I just bought a 1987 eldorado biaritz, and the driver information center and climate control displays do not work. all the buttons work. the defrost button light comes on when you press it. i've checked the ground and +7 and +12v lines, all are good. i've read some of the other posts about BCM problems, so i tried the reset thing with the battery cables. no change. when i press the "off" and "warmer" buttons for diagnostic mode, the instrument cluster lights up, but still the display shows nothing. any ideas? i've reset all of the connectors, checked all the fuses, etc. i just wanted to get an opinion from you guys before i shell out the hundred dollars at the local salvage yard for a ECC/DIC box that may or may not fix my problem. Thanks!

Usually this is because of a CPS (controlled power source module) failure. Its located vertically just above the throttle pedal under the dash. Drop the under dash hush panel to expose it. Its held with two 10 mm? nuts to studs on the cps. When you drop it down , it will have a label on it that says power module. Mine shorted when I attempted to wire in an after market radio and connected the wrong wires. An 86 thru 89 should be the same. I've also seen a loose connector to it be the cause, wiggle the connector with the key in the run postion prior to removing it. Good luck.

Its proper name is CENTRAL POWER SUPPLY. that name is on the module. Sorry for the incorrect name for it yesterday. Bill.

Hi, I have the exact same problem witht he exact same car. However previous posts say that it is the CPS, and that is not the case. Because i had to replace mine before because my digital dash was not working, and that fixed it, but it did not fix the DIC. So any follow up on this? I haven't tried the battery reset thing.

Again I still need help on this. Exact same situation. Same Car. It is NOT the CPS. I have replaced mine to fix my IPC problem, but that did not fix the CCDIC problem. I still need help.
