Put a 12v test lamp in line between the negative battery cable and the post. Start pulling fuses until it goes out. That component or circuit is where your problem is.

Howdy Ranger, quick question for the test you suggest. I am also looking for a drain short to my electrical system. What if you pull all the fuses and none make the light go out? Is there more fuses other then under the hood and in the truck I may be missing? Or could it be something else? Thanks

Not sure where all your fuses are. I think there are some in the trunk, but you owners manual should tell you.

Well I have a 92 Deville and pulled everything under the hood and all the fuses in the trunk and the light never went out. Any other thoughts as to where to look for a short? Thanks

You should wait at least some 15-20 minutes after the ignition is turned off before measuring the drain.

ok maybe I am mistaken on this test. I did the test between the neg post and cable with a light tester with the key off. and every fuse was pulled and not one made the light go out. So I am assuming the short is before a fuse box. or in a item not fused.

There are so many fuses in these cars I don't know if anybody could find them all. Have you changed any interior light bulbs lately? I read here once that a light bulb in a door panel was installed backwards and caused a drain. That's a weird one I never would have found. Good luck.

cadillac_al may be referring to me with the backwards light in the door killing the battery :shhh:

In the Deville (not sure about seville) their is another fusebox under the glovebox beneath the black panels. Just take 2 or 3 of the screws out and the panel comes off and you can see the fuses and several relays. The fuse I pulled which stopped the drain and led me to the door panel was in that box.

One of the fuses should do it, just a matter of finding it
