Went to my dealership yesterday and was informed that my 2007 STS could use an update to the navigation system. I was told that the update would take about one and a half hours. Service dept. didn't seem to know too much about what the update did. Couldn't answer if it updated the streets or not. Any help out there. Please advise if it is recomended and what the changes are. This is an update not a new navigation disk. I have no problems now they just recommended it. It's free. Anyone that can help, Thanks

The update they are referring to is called a firmware update. It definitely should not take one and a half hours though. Mine took about 30 mins once they got the car back there and they did it for free. There is a TSB that was posted on here about what the latest one fixes. From what I remember it fixes a few things such as making the VR and blue tooth work better and it changes a couple of the menus around. If you search in the STS forum for NAV firmware or Firmware update you will find it.
One more important question on the Navigation Firmware Update. Will the update effect my DVD lockpick on a 2007 STS. My model has the mute button on the steering column to activate the lockpick. Don't want to change anything with the lockpick, works great. Please advise and thanks
