View Full Version : should I buy an srx? pkgaskin 08-03-04, 04:06 PM We have a 2003 Trailblazer we like it. I like the room we have for traviling.I have 2 kids and a dog and we do travel a lot. My husband was looking at the cts last weekend (for him) and the srx caught our eye. We need to go test drive it. Does it have a lot of room? Would we be happy going from a trailblazer to a srx for the family car? :) sgilbert 08-03-04, 04:41 PM My opinion: You would LOVE the vehicle as a "driver", but you would not like the roominess.
It is not as big as a Trailblazer--Period!
It is primarily a 4 person vehicle with the capacity for 7 if needed. JDelorean_srx 08-03-04, 08:22 PM If you get the SRX for the family car what would 'hubby' get? - the corvette conv. he's been coveting?
Keep the trailblazer for the family ride & get the SRX for him - then switch every now and then. (I had the envoy a few vehicles back, liked it, I just don't have to haul as much stuff, or people, around as much currently, and the SRX is fun to drive!) The SRX is built on the Trailblazer's platform, so I would think it is simular in size.
Not as "rolling" cushy ride. rueben44 08-03-04, 09:20 PM The SRX is not on the same platform as a trailblazer!!!!!! It is on the sigma shared only with the CTS and 2005 STS.
Now if you have two to three kids the SRX is big enough for you. CeeFive 08-03-04, 09:33 PM You don't think the SRX has the room of an Envoy/ Trailbllazer? Samboosa 08-04-04, 05:37 AM You don't think the SRX has the room of an Envoy/ Trailbllazer?
My brother has a Trailblazer. Parked next to my SRX. The Trailblazer is LARGER in size. Seats are not as wide as the SRX therefore the roominess.
Besides to the seats if you look at the 3rd-row seat's place in SRX it has stuff all over it (woofer, cup-holders, etc) while its almost empty and roomy in the Trailblazer. I must admit that the SRX isn't as roomy as it seems but I am coming from a minivan. Like stated in another post, this is a five passanger car with the availability for seven "If needed". With the 3rd row up there is almost no room to carry anything of size.
This all said, I still think it's a great car and a blast to drive. With the Ultraview, Rear entertaiment the Navigation system the car is a pleasure to drive. :D pkgaskin 08-04-04, 09:43 AM Thank you all for your input. I think we will take the SRX for a 24 hour test drive later this week to see how we like it. Maybe I would like driving it better than the Trailblazer, somtimes the Trailblazer feels to big for me. My husband was on the cadillac web site last night and saw the silver green color has anyone seen that color in person if so was wondering how it looked? I like the Red line. Thanks again. :) Thank you all for your input. I think we will take the SRX for a 24 hour test drive later this week to see how we like it. You will love the way it rides compared to the Trailblazer. It rides and handles like a sports car. There's nothing truck like or mushy in this ride.
The green is a nice color as is the red. I bought the White Diamond and it definitelty gets a lot of looks and compliments. :bouncy: I believe if you do some research, you will find the SRX is built on the Trail Blazer chassis. The rest of it above is Sigma, common parts with CTS and Trail Blazer, saving much dollars to build.
The Trail Blazer sits higher than the SRX, does not mean it is larger.
Can the TrailBlazer seat 7, with more room in the back of the 7 row seat. I do not think so.
Same as Envoy XL, seats 7, very little room behind the 7th seat. JDelorean_srx 08-04-04, 12:41 PM JKN, where are you getting your research from? :drinker inline6 08-04-04, 01:17 PM We were given a long wheelbase Envoy for a loaner when our SRX was in for its new stereo. Things we noticed were the Envoy was too long to fit in the garage stall we keep the SRX in, the driving position was more cramped and it definitely felt more truck like than the SRX. In fact the use of the Envoy made the decision for us of keeping my Tahoe and not getting a TB/Envoy etc replacement. There's nothing truck like or mushy in this ride...John-It's major hyperbole to say that the SRX "rides and handles like a sports car"! When compared only to your minivans, the SRX might seem like a sports car. However, as an owner of a Honda S2000 (a sports car) and a BMW 5-series (sport sedan), the SRX looks, feels, drives, rides and handles like the big, fat, overweight crossover/truck that it is! When it comes to vehicle handling, ride and performance, there is not an engineer around that can defy physics and engineer away the SRX's 4,300+ lbs.
To praise however, relative to luxury crossover competitors, the SRX looks great, gets off the line fast, handles better and rides tighter than most others. It is definitely a very nice crossover vehicle, but it is NO sports car! John-It's major hyperbole to say that the SRX "rides and handles like a sports car"! Ok, sports car was the wrong description. I guess what I meant was compared to the truck they had, the SRX would feel like a sports car. I bet you'd be very happy going from the Trailblazer to the SRX. The SRX still has about 80-90% of the storage room of the TB/Envoy with the power (especially the V8), handling, and ride that is in a completely differently league then the GMT360 platform SUV's (TB/Envoy/Ranier/Bravada/Ascender).
We used to have an Envoy and I can say with about 7,500 miles on our SRX, I still smile every time I get behind the wheel. | |
