Sounds really loud when starting the car when its cold. Can hear it even louder when making a sharp turn. Fluid is topped up, does this indicate the pump is going? If so how much should one retail for? Dave S Texas 11-04-09, 11:32 AM Many things will cause a 'whine'. Not maintaining the fluid according to the maintenance schedule, topping-off with the wrong fluid, air in system, worn parts. A common and overlooked cause is a belt problem...worn/misaligned/tensioner. RockAuto has good pricing on pumps. Rebuilt pumps, from anyplace, are always crap-shoot. Replacing the pump isn't much fun, so I bought new. mrwillc 11-21-09, 10:55 PM mine is leaking fluid somewhere, i haven't had time to locateit yet | |
