car: 95 Deville 4.9L

My son calls, said the power steering must be empty, can barely turn the wheel, then it just won't start. Weird. I get there, the drive belt is off (so no PSteering or alternator. LOL). Upon more research, the bracket that holds the power steering pump (and I think also holds the belt tensioner) broke. (see pic). Where can I get one of these?

That's going to be either... a dealer or junk yard part.

I'll call the dealer in the morning or see if the local salvage has a 4.9L I can canibalize. Not sure how it broke though, must have been weakened at some point and finally given out. All the pulleys spin okay. weird.

Wow, that's ridiculous and embarrassing...for Cadillac.

I wouldn't bother with the dealer, if they were able to get it it's gonna be pricey.

Your local pick-a-part salvage yard should have that for <$20. The last time I went to the yard, pre-2000 model devilles were plentiful.

Junkyard. Don't count on the dealer even being able to locate that for you. The car is over 10 years old, they are not required to stock parts for it anymore.

hmm...when I bought my '90 Eldo I noticed mine was cracked but have been ignoring it. Maybe it's something worth looking into.

BTW, what the f*** is going on with the hose clamped on the fuel rail???

heh, yeah, there are hose clamps all over the place on this 4.9L. someone was bored I guess. LOL

anyways, I got the part # from my cadillac dealer, then I went to www.vpartsinc.com and ordered it for a fraction of what the local "u-pull" salvage yard wanted. I'll have to wait a couple of days, but its worth it IMO.
