My headlight seems to flicker. Again. They have both been replaced before because of the same problem. Now again, the right HID headlight flickers again.
Is this a common thing??? I am out of warranty and I am not sure if the repair itself also has some warranty.
Anyone?

the balasts require a minimum amount of power to opperate..usually 9volts. if you give it under that it will flicker. so you have a power issue, i have the same problem with my hid fogs so im adding a harness with a relay to draw a stedy stream of power from somewhere else... wont work on a factory hid system though.

That´s funny. From time to time my right HID-lowbeam flickers, too. Usually when sticking in traffic. My garage was unable to fix that problem as yet.

Thanks for the help! That makes sense. I hope I can make it clear to my workshop. When I got my 06 new, I had to have the battery replaced too, since it was dying all the time. I even had electrical power issues with my 03.
They didn't make a robust electrical power system in the first generation CTS! :cookoo:
At least the alternator and battery are cheaper than the lamps...
Hope that helps you too Germaneon ;)

I´ll see whether my mechanics now can solve the problem or not.
(btw: I´ve seen your nice Autobahnvideo chasing the Corvette ;-) )

I'll have the alternator checked next week, when I'll have my winter tires put on. The tougher battery in the 03 I had put in solved my problems back then and the new battery held some time in the 06. But it seems they changed the head lamp units for nothing then.
Just like they:
- replaced the steering rods
- replaced the wheel bearings
- replaced the drive shaft
- replaced the brake disks
over a year and a half time to solve a vibration caused by the tires. They just required road force balancing. :banghead:
Workshops lack common engineering knowledge nowadays. They just replace whenever they can. :cookoo:

Fortunately Cadillac replacement parts are a real bargain over here in Germany .
My dealer asked me 140,-EUR for new trunk lift supports. Instead I purchased them from rockauto.com and paid 45,- EUR incl. shipping and custom. :yup:

Thanks for the heads up! I hope someone can post a picture to make the position of the mentioned wiring more clear.
