Motorera says that in 1969, the VIN on the Calais was stamped above the instrument panel and visible through the windshield. On mine, it doesn't have one visible...can anyone tell me if this is accurate or if maybe I just missed the VIN when looking?

You should have one visible through the bottom driver side windshield. You should be able to see it from the outside. Same place most other cars have them. Is there an empty spot that looks like it would have a vin?

Look in the driver's door hinge area between the hinges.

If your car ever leaked significantly around the windshield, the VIN tag may have rusted away. Or, the rivets holding it to the cowl may have broken and it fell off between the dash and the firewall. If it's there at all, it should be visible through the windshield on the driver's side just to the left of the A-pillar. It should start with "N9" followed by a six digit build sequence number. If the tag is completely gone, you can also find the VIN stamped into the rear upper portion of the cylinder block and on the left side of the transmission (assuming these two items are still original to the car).

Yeah from what I was told everything is original in this car (and it looks it) but there's like not even a spot for the VIN plate as far as I could see. I'll have to look again next time I go work on it but I didn't see so much as rivet holes or anything
