Yeap - its the type that has the doctor sitting in the passenger seat so when you get your heart-attack from the throttle, he can revive you.

LOL! - Sorry, couldn't resist.

I saw that - not a bad deal as long as you don't care about a warranty.

After getting the Lingenfelter package for the '09 CTS V,
I went to the Vette Doctors for headers.
They ended up updating the tune I got from LPE and brought even more animal out of my V.
Awesome guys!!!!!!!

Don't know anything about it, but I've heard from numerous people, some first hand, that they do VERY good work. I'm willing to bet it's ANIMAL.

Stupid GM--if this car had real pistons, I'd gladly change the heads and cam and get to, say, 800rwhp and just have a friggin blast...

I wish they had just put the LS9 unchanged from the Vette in there. Even if it added another 5-10k to the price, its still less than what an AMG E63 Benz or M5 would cost.

LOL...stupid GM and their crazy ways of reaching a price point :hmm:

Forged pistons & high end rods = more $$$ = fewer buyers for a $75K Cadillac.

I think 550+HP is more than enough to have a friggen blast :cool2:

I'm told that the LS9 pistons are just not that much better. But I don't have any specific information...anyone else heard anything...the rods are titanium and have a pretty good reputation.

Vette Doctors have a pretty great reputation within the Corvette community.

They have also been around for a long time. In fact, they were one of the few shops doing legitimate build ups of the orginal ZR1 LT5 motors. I think that there may have only been three shops really capable of stroking the LT5. Lingenfelter, DRM (Doug Rippe) and Vette Doctors.

They are rebuilding an LSA for some other guys' '09 CTS V.
He wants to go crazy with modding up to 8 or 9 hundred HP so they are beefing it up and building him a new one!

Huh?

Based on my understanding, the price difference was VERY negligible, which makes perfect sense from an accounting perspective.

Further, EVEN IF GM was going to pay (cough) retail for upgraded rods and pistons, what are we talking about? Less than $1k? Hell, let's make it an additional $1,000 (don't forget, if they did purchase the upgraded rods & pistons, they would NOT have purchased the lower-end rods & pistons. In other words, it isn't like the cost of the upgrades is an additional cost on top of what's currently there. It is NOW, for people like us who have actually purchased the car, but it wouldn't be for GM, as they're building the stupid thing).

And you think that demand is going to significantly shrink by an ~1% increase in price in this automobile?

LMAO...I highly doubt it.

The aftermarket automotive industry is what...a $250 BILLION dollar industry? And a huge portion of that is people modifying their cars.

Who knows what demand would do if they offered these upgrades, for, perhaps, they could even attract MORE customers, for people could modify the V2s even further without the need to make those changes.

Based on my conversations with people who were working with GM to carry an option on the V2 that WOULD have these upgrades...no, make no mistake about it, they did it for highly dubious, cost saving reasons that even make many conservative accountants say, "What?!?!?"

And if you think 550hp is more than enough, fine. I guess you won't have to worry about the cost of modifying your car then.

:yeah: * 10.

Even better, how about the option?!?!?

And there's no way the CTS-V is going to run with the Vette anyways, almost based on weight alone, to say nothing about tire size, etc.

I bet more LS9 V2s sell than LSA V2s...
