I got a connection with a guy that does this but better yet he has 4-5 techs that can do this mod for us CTS, CTSV owners

Im just giving you all a heads up so you can save up your money cause damn this is awesome...

Any detailed info on purchasing the leds would b greatly aprreciated

As for a cost of a unit idk, i just got done talkin to him to see if he can do it... and he said bring it on, so maybe we can do 5 orders at a time maybe, ill have to see how he does with mine..and will let you all know!!!

Any Pictures? what color will the replacement be? Will it be the DIC and the Climate control? About how much does it cost?

i was just thinking about what other colour would look good for the DIC this past weekend... maybe white to match the speedo and gage cluster

Sammy, you will be swapping the LED's so you can do any colour you want as long as you can find the LED's for it, and i read the surface mount LED's required at about $1.75 a pop, 30 LEDs on the climate and 60 on the DIC, so you're looking at over $100.. although i just checked LSdiodes.com (who i have ordered from before) and they have them for .45ea or .60ea depending on colour choice http://www.lsdiodes.com/shop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=6 im just not sure if those are the proper ones needed

Hey Sammy. ok the dic and climate basically are the same type of work so yes.
How much it cost?, i stated idk yet, but he wont jip us i promis that, it is alot of work keep that in mind.

Another thing that no one brought to attention is that theres more than just the dic and climate, ....yes thats correct ...just look at the pics closer

Pay attention to not what the square of l.e.d.s , thats ur dic, look around it, see those annonomous l.e.d's, those are for the buttons, he never changed them, so heres a chance for us to kinda update this mod.


Another note is that IIRC our cluster has l.e.d's in them :D
So maybe this is a possibility too!!!
ANOTHER "possibilty" is the buttons on our doors, i can most likely can have him switch those over to l.e.d., i just gotta see how it looks colors may vary though but other than that , this is looking VERY possible, i will keep you updated as much ias i can ;)

Im gonna try to make this as simplistic as possible, basically what we will do is he will offer it on his website( i assume) and we will send our units in to him , and like i said he has 4-5 l.e.d techs and i think thats more than your average joe, other than some big company doing this for us, i am very confident in this guy. I just need to send everything i can to him have him do a swap, tell him to take A LOT of pics and we can get this whole thing rollin!! :yup:


p.s. txtbest i remember you sending me a pm about helping me with shipping, if you can give me the exact links to purchase certain colors that will help this go a lot faster, i can send him my climate control and anything else with l.e.d.s like maybe my cluster and door panel buttons. I switched to nav so i dont have the stock dic. I may still send him my nav so he can do the buttons with blue l.e.d's :)


IF ANYONE can contribute knowledge such as whether or not l.e.ds are in our cluster or what types of bulbs are used in our dorr jams that would speed this up even more!!

I think in your other post you stated that sammy can pick any color he wants, well c theres a problem with that IIRC and that is within that thread that i posted he stated that the glass plate that goes over the dic and climate control unit is tinted blue , therefor changes the lights color output, so im kinda beginning to think this is our color choice, maybe he can change that but im not saying becuase i have not even begun to discuss that with him.


AS for you statement i quoted above, This has never been done before, the only pictures u can see is from the thread i posted maybe there is more but that is the one thread i know.

Other than that this is a new beginning in launching this and is just starting from that thread.

but for 50 bucks thats really good, but what does that $50 get you?
There 60 leds for the dic alone, 16 for the climate controls display alone, not including all the buttons lol hey if 50 bucks gets us that let the pc repair shop do this hahahah

I just counted from the pics, 31 leds to do a total led swap thats If you wanna change all the color, for the ppl with the DIC display thats make 77 for a complete swap ....damn lol
im gonna drive everything to his tech in PA and show him everything tell about color being effected , here comes a wonderfuol 3.42 hour drive :)

Yeah, I don't think its the doors, etc. I just asked him about the AC unit. Not worried about DIC; that's in my garage in my box next to those ugly orange fog lights lol.

That one is without a flash. One in daylight will be harder to do since my car is now stored for winter.

Here's mine- a fellow forum member with electrical/soldering knowledge did it for me a few years ago. It's white LEDs, and the background looks blue at night exactly like Jon's.
