So anyone know if theres any type of short shift kit available for the v ? We have the same trans as the camaro and the gxp and they have short shift kits - could we interchange ? I do notice during aggressive shifting the throws are still too long. A nice inch drop would be perfect.

I never thought of it, but you are right. WTF?
I have an auto and not too important, but very surprising. Usually one of the first mods available. Hmmmm!

Since the V2 uses the TR6060 I would think MGW's shifter would work. I can't post a link yet but the is mgwltd dot com.

Hey guys, we are an MGW distributor...we use them on all the Cobra's we do.

I am going to contact them and see if they have anything, if they don't I will discuss doing the prototyping work with them.

I'll look to see if they are at SEMA right now as well.

If anyone is intrested we could make one for you guys,we would just need a car for couple of days to prototype and will give one for free.

We are in Burbank Ca and you could contact me at yesso@sbcglobal.net.

Thanks.

If I was still in Socal, I'd jump all over this.

You aren't too far from me, and I'd consider it, but I guess I must ask this simple question...

Do we REALLY need it?

The shifter in the V1s were clearly lacking, but the current shifter is about as smooth as ice and the distance betweem shifts doesn't seem too egregious.

Am I missing something??

It seems to me that GM listened to (cough) us and fixed a LOT of issues from the first generation. Yeah, there are some things that I wish they didn't mess with, but damn--the V2 is just a really sweet car.

Okay, okay, the stupid cast piston is horsesh*t, but... :)

The shifter is a tad bit long. If you do some serious shifting you can tell the shift time can be cut down with a slightly shorter shifter. I'm not talking a nub but 3/4-1" would be ideal

Hmmm...

Very tempting...

Would love to feel it first I guess, but... :)

Getting more precise shifts couldn't hurt..

Hell, first thing I changed on my C6 Z06 was the shifter..

The first time I drove a V2 felt like shifting a semi truck(not knocking the V2 just saying the shifter could get better)

I also had a Mgw in my 03 Cobra and their service and product was top notch. If they do make one for the v's you guys will be happy!

Mgw makes really nice shifters just a little bit too noisy for a DD.

Actually most of the aftermarket shifters were a bit noisy. Some time later a guy started making gaskets for the shifter for the 03/04 cobra's that helped alot.

If other company's start making shifters and this is and issue I am sure a vendor can contact him and see if he would start making them for the v's.:yup:

I hope they do but if i could have a V2 in my shop for a couple of days i could make one just like the V1's i made.:bouncy:

How is the auto?
Are down shifts quick with the steering buttons??

Doct

The down shifts are great! I love that it "rev matches" don't know if that's the proper term. Up shifting it lags so I have to shift early, i would say 4800-5100 or I am bouncing off the rev limiter. I don't really find myself using the sterring buttons really only cause I am used to having left hand on steering wheel and right hand on shifter from manual cars.

As stated by other members don't really care for the factory settings on the transmission shift points. The car likes to be in the high gear at low speeds. I know that tuning really addresses those issues though from what I have been reading here.

Cool,thanks bud!!!

I'm thinking of getting one cuz my lease is up on my sts-v and as long as the trans is better then my sts-v i would consider a auto V2.

No problem man! I don't think you will be disappointed with the auto specially if you are going to mod the car. I chose it it only because where I live is a lot of bumper to bumper traffic and I got tired of a manual car. Personally I don't think you can go wrong either way, it's a great car.

Im sure I will be plus I have my Z06 that's a manual for weekend fun so most deff I'll get the auto.

I just wanted to make sure it doesn't shift like the crap trans in my sts-v.

MGW does not offer one yet.

I'm calling them back today to see if we can work together on making a unit.

Nice ! they'd be the first ones on the market to make a shift kit and i'm sure that would benefit them greatly
