in my 69 there's a little button thing on the floor near the pedals, it's round like a cylinder and you can push it down with your foot. anyone know what it does?

OH MY GOD!!! THATS THE EJECTION SEAT BUTTON!! no, really, thats to dim and brighten the headlights. Its called a dimmer switch. If your car has auto dimming headlights you must have the high beams on before turning on the auto dimming feature. That way in the dark the hi beams are on and will automatically dim when a car approaches.

Not saying that under 30 means that you don't know. Just that if you don't know, you are probably under 30. Hell, if you were given new cars to drive, under 40! I rolled my 71 to high school in the late 80s, and I drove the oldest car by probably ten years.

When did they stop putting the Wonderbar radio switch down there?

My 79 Cad has the floor switch for the high beams. In 1980 the dimmer was on the turn signal lever. The floor dimmer is classic! :)

I used to tell my friends that my high beams were voice activated. I would say, "watch, I will keep my hands on the wheel, and tell the high beams to come on". One loud exclamation of "LIGHTS" would be all it would take to switch from low to high beams ;)

Thats funny; my Granddad used to do the same thing with his old Chevrolet, only he would say it was magic.
