Just upgraded to digital onster from analog today called to get info on onstar use, I get the free monthly diagnostic and safety features but they said I could not get the free trial turn by turn because my firmware could not support it, I have a 05 sts 1SG with dvd nav my original sticker shows onstar with directions and connections onstar tells me I never had downloaded direction from them because my car has 6.1 firmware and they have to have 7.0 or higher has anyone run into this problem and what was the outcome.

P.S I really don.t need TBT because I have the updated nav but they were offering a free trial so why not.

I had that same issue with my '07 CTS. It was annoying but I survived. :lol:

Were you able to eventually get TBT on your onstar or you let go without.

Nope. There was no way to update my firmware.

Unfortunately you need a 2007 STS or newer. On earlier models you can have them download the directions and it will be recorded, but it's a pain to use and you have to go through the whole string of directions to get to the one you need at the moment.

oh, I thought Directions and Connections on earlier models gave the Onstar people the OK to give you directions to where you are going. I remember I never have D&C and called for help because I was lost (pre-nav days). They told me they couldn't give me directions without the package but game me one time help. they walked me through where I Wanted to go and that was it. Never experienced the other one next2pool was referring to. this was in my 2005 regal gs

Yes--they do that as well. It works fine if you are close or need specific detail. The recorded process is for longer trips when you have multiple turns, etc.
