I had an alarm installed in my 07 escalde and they told me that they could not hook up the alarm cutoff switch. so when the alarm is activated as long as you have the key to the truck it can be started. the alarm people said that there was no way to hook up the wire that would cut the starter when the alarm was activated. has anyone had this problem? does anyone have a resolution? any help is appreciated!

Which alarm did you have installed? I have a Viper 5901 in my 08' Escalade and the shop that installed it could not get the remote start to work without installing a box to hide my spare key behind the dash. Needless to say, I was not happy and it just didn't sound right to me. I then took it to a second shop and they told me there is no need to hide my spare key in the vehicle because Viper sells a separate control box that can be programmed to send the correct key code so the remote start will work without the key being present in the car. I had the second shop remove my spare key and install the Viper control module and it works great. I think the Viper control box was about $75 or $80if I remember correctly. Galaxy Auto Sound in Northidge, CA. fixed the crappy installation job performed by the other shop. They are a very busy shop and they install lots of alarm systems so you might want to call them if you have any questions. You can reach them at (818) 700-0440.

the alarm i had installed is code alarm. the remote start works fine. it's the fact that when the alarm is activated the car can still be started with the key. yes, the alarm will sound but it can still be started... most alarms including the one i have has a cut off to the ignition. so even if the siren was cut so there wont be sound the vehicle still could not be started. for some reason they cant figure out where to hook up whatever they need to hook up to kill the ignition while alarm is activated... for amatures theres no problem but for the professional theft. he willl be able to bypass the key and start it with no problem. so my question is does anyone have any info on what needs to be done to hook this up. any info is apreciated... thank you!
