Only 12,486 miles on my 06 DTS and I have a front crank seal leak!! What gives? It is being covered under warranty, but is there anything else that should be looked at or into? TIA for any help.

Nah. Just one of those things. Quite rare. CR gives the engine the highest marks for the DTS....06 on...........

Yeah, as you can notice from the mileage the car has not been driven very much at all and it actually has been sitting for a while. With that said I was wondering if it could be attributed to the lack of lubrication to that seal causing it to fail.

That was my first thought, (lack of driving/lubrication) when I noticed the super low mileage.
My 2006 has almost 70,000 on it.

Oil swells up rubber. That is why some mechanics tell you to rub a little oil on oil filter gasket when changing filter. That makes for an excellent sealing process.

Also, historically, some people who park cars on a hill (for lengthy periods of time) will experience seal failure (in cars with non-transverse engines). That happens to the seal at the higher end of the engine.
