CR gives the engine the highest marks for the DTS....06 on........... dzlfumes 11-01-09, 08:57 AM Yeah, as you can notice from the mileage the car has not been driven very much at all and it actually has been sitting for a while. With that said I was wondering if it could be attributed to the lack of lubrication to that seal causing it to fail. With that said I was wondering if it could be attributed to the lack of lubrication to that seal causing it to fail. That was my first thought, (lack of driving/lubrication) when I noticed the super low mileage. My 2006 has almost 70,000 on it. Texas Jim z06bigbird 11-01-09, 01:13 PM Oil swells up rubber. That is why some mechanics tell you to rub a little oil on oil filter gasket when changing filter. That makes for an excellent sealing process. Also, historically, some people who park cars on a hill (for lengthy periods of time) will experience seal failure (in cars with non-transverse engines). That happens to the seal at the higher end of the engine. | |
