Hello,

I have been a long time lurker on the forum but do not recall anybody asking this and i couldn't find it in the search.

Is there a way to convert the ignition to push button start? Basically what i am looking for is what quite a few new cars have, the proximity sensor for unlocking the doors and push button start. Is there an aftermarket way to do this?

Thanks for any help, even if it is just telling me i am stupid and showing me thousands of posts discussing this already.

Also while i am here, is there any reason to go for the 08 over the 07 aside from the lack of possible wind noise ( those posts i could find :) ).

Thanks again.

From a technical viewpoint, it would be more of a hassle and I'm sure more expensive then it's worth. It would require extensive modification, plus I wouldn't know anyone who could modify the existing keyfob or make one to work. What's wrong with using the key and turn, just curious?

Also, I wouldn't think there would be anything beneficial going from the 07-08, unless you get an 09. The 09 has all the updates, bluetooth, flexfuel, etc.

Nothing wrong with using a key, just thought if it were possible to do for a reasonable price it would be nice to have. Kind of like auto up windows, nothing wrong with pushing a button to make a window go up, just nice to have.

I figured it would be technically and financially not worth it, just thought i would ask to make sure.

Thanks.

It would certainly not be cost effective.
Anything CAN be done but I would advise you to put that out of your mind and move on with your life.
There are a lot of complicated issues that would need to be resolved.

Yeah, I figured I was dreaming a little when I asked of a aftermarket way of remote unlock, push button start. I have as good of a chance of making that happen as I do of having the Escalade driving up to the door and picking me up.

the remote of my 09 hybrid has keyless remote start already. just put the key in when you are inside.

OK, with keyless everything, what happens when your little fob battery shorts out? Or craps out after 4-5yrs of use?

:D
