Hey I bought a nice used STS non V I get my horspower fix elsewhere. I had a couple questions maybe you guys could answer.

First when I accelerate I hear a really dim humming almost buzzing coming from behind the dash in the engine bay area, is that normal?

Second my STS is an 05 bolt pattern is 5x115 right?

Its a V6

yes your bolt pattern is a 5 x115 as far as the humming take it to the dealer and for about 125.00 they'll do a once over and let you know of any issues.

STS has always used 115mm bolt pattern.

CTS used 115 until end of 07 model year. They used 120 for 08, 09, 2010 model years. I believe that the reason for the 120mm is the fact that CTS owners complained about not enough choices for aftermarket wheels. Not too many others use 115mm. Many manufacts use 115mm.
