You need to change the zone. I believe the zone for VA is 6 or 7.
Simply change the zone for California. Which may be zone 1. Then when you input under address, you just change city, and input your city name.
That should take care of it. If you then drive anywhere out of your zone, you just go in a change the zone to where you are going.
I change zones from PA to New York and back when we travel to mountain home.
Let me know it that worked.

Then, you need to "change" your home address under set up...this is done after changing your official zone.
If you can't figure it out under set up, let me know and I will PM you the EXACT directions. Let me know

You changed your home address in the nav so when you hit the home tab, it lists your home address??? BTW, was zone one correct for CA?
Wierd....The person I purchased my truck from was originally from Texas. I changed to PA, changed the zone, and it worked fine.
I will check mine tonight when my wife gets home and try to change my home address to our home upstate NY and see if it was as easy as I remember. I will follow up when I try later tonight.

Were you able to change the zone from VA to CA??? Thats the first part......

Yes I was able to change the zone from 6 (VA) to 1 (Ca, NV). I was able to enter in "REGISTER" column a home address (address closest my real home address, coz my real address was not found) ( my dvd map version is version 1.0, which i think is the oldest version), I entered a destination address (my work address) but when i start to drive to my destination, it shows i'm coming from VA (distance shows 2,940 miles).... I also checked on the setup (calibrate, default), Default will stay on "No) even if you point the joystick to "YES"....Please help me with any suggestions, i really appreciate it.

Hi Oldworld and Luxurylife33....could you please PM me on what else to do?...I really appreciate it, I am just a bit frustrated i can't get to work the way it should be, I don't want to take it to the dealer either, they will charge me $155.00 just to reset it.
Thank you so much.

The info Oldworld and Lux Life gave is on point. Here's a cut and past from the Nav manual for you to follow. Good luck.

Destination
The Destination screen will give you more ways to plan
a route by entering destination points. Press the
DEST key to display the Destination screen.
The Destination screen allows you to select the area to
be searched for your destination. A map of the United
States and a part of Canada divided into 8 regions
will be shown. Before selecting a method of destination
entry, review the search area map on the right side
of the Destination screen to make sure your destination
is located in the highlighted region.
If you need to see a more detailed search area map
with a list of states, or to change the search area, select
Change. Use the joystick to highlight the number for
the desired region, then press the center of the joystick
to select it. The Destination screen will return
automatically.

I already tried this, it still does not work, i erased all memory points, home address, destination address and everything and started all over again, i changed the search area to Zone 1 (CA, NV), enter my home address, entered a destination address, but when i start to drive, system still thinks that I am still coming from VA or MD...do you have any suggestion on how to reset, set it to factory default?...please let me know.
Thank you & Happy Halloween...
