If you're talking about these...

They're retractable headlight washers and are standard equipment on all 1st generation SRXes that are bundled with xenon headlights. The SRXes you're seeing without these "bumps" were not factory equipped with xenons.
If these are not what you're talking about, then I have no clue... ;)

Yes that is exactly what I'm talking about! Now what do you mean by retractable headlight washers? Something comes out of them?

The covers that you're seeing are at the end of stalks that protrude out about 2-3" (IIRC) and squirt a pressurized blast of washer fluid at the headlight. When the squirting's done, the stalk retracts and the covers are once again flush to the nose of the car.
These only deploy when the headlights are on and the driver engages the windshield wash function - and even then only in certain circumstances.
I'm guessing that Caddy designed these because the bumper didn't protrude enough to mount traditional headlight washer nozzles???

Gotta laugh at this because when I bought my SRX the sales guy told me that those are "lane deviation sensors" He also said "these sensors will keep you in your lane while you drive" I actually knew what they were, but ya gotta wonder is this why GM went down the tubes?:bang2:
Sales people. I just sad when you know more about their product than they do.

If they are out in the open they can freeze, I assume they are heated and covered to stay out of the spray and stuff.
I was at a VW dealer looking at a Passat for my parents, before we left I said is this one a 4-motion he said yes it sure is, we had a nice test drive in a FWD car as it had no rear diff. My lesson learned do your own research as sales people may be stupid.
