This is my first time. I have 77 sedan deville with a criuse control problem. Sometimes it sets fine other times it sets and speeds up and up till you hit the brake. Other times I set it and it kicks off, some times it will set at all. I had this problem for years nobody knows what to do. Any help would be great. John

If it speeds up till the brakes are applied the the unit under the hood, driver side inner fender, is faulty, its called the cruise control transducer assembly. 2 speedo cables attach to it I believe. Over the years carbon is sucked from the engine thru its source hose and ruins the mechanism inside. You might get lucky at the wrecking yard from any GM car of this era. They are all similar except the diesel cars.
