To remove it from my DeVille the inner fender cover has to be removed, then the attaching bolts can be accessed.
thanks, Dave
on the eldo there is a acsesse hole, and I have the unit loose but with the mast extended will not fit through.

Mine might be an 'improvement' on the '84 design, but I doubt it. My antenna is in 3-12" sections, but those won't collapse into each other. I have a replacement, but that sits on the shelf. Too much of a PITA job for such a small 'gain'. If I was going to do the change, and the mast wouldn't collapse, I'd cut it off. I'm fine having stay up, just like every other antenna I've ever had. Wish I could have the same problem with other 'parts'.....IYKWIM.
First, cut the mast off at the fender. Next, with 2 people, remove the passenger hood hinge and gas support strut. Have the friend lay the hood on the cowl on top of a thick blanket, you might need to support the hood with a broom stick at the front. Then on the top inner edge of the fender, remove two 6 mm? nuts, then down low on the inner fender remove the 10 mm bolt, next press in and twist the antenna connection apart under the hood. Then snake the assembly thru the elongaged hole in the inner fender. Once the nylon cable breaks away from the motor within the assembly, you cannt save the mast. Replace the assembly. Have thick gloves on, the inner fender will cut you.
thanks, carnut
had hoped to save the expense of new mast, guess not
