My truck is a daily driver in the city and weekends im usually away on a dirt road and gravel driveway.I currently have the stock 18s on and would love to go 24s. Im just concerned about the ride and smaller sidewall. Has anyone put on custom 22s and what size tire ? 305/45 or 295/45 ? any pics?

thanks

I had 24's with my 2007 Denali XL. The size was 285/35-24's per tire rack's recommendation. The diameter is slightly shorter than the 32" ride height of the stock 22's. I probably should have gone to 295/35-22's as they are slightly taller than the stock heigth. 305's will work as well but you're almost .5 inches taller than stock.

The gap between the tire and wheel well looked ugly so I did a Belltech 2/3 minor dump. I encountered immediate issues with rubbing. The front tires rubbed and in the rear the inner part of the tires rubbed so I had to have spacers installed. Additonally, the ride was less than comfortable. Honestly it wasn't worth the headache so when we bought the 2007 Escalade ESV I changed out the stock 22's and put on 22" Akuza blades. They look great and the vehicle was engineered to ride on 22's so the overall experience is fantastic.

Too bad you don't live in Oregon because I'd sell you my Akuza's for cheap. After riding around in them for a month I should have bough the black wheels I was contemplating. ;)

I run 22's, 24's and 26's on my different Escalade's, and the 22's and up on dirt/gravel roads will cause some damage to your truck with kicking stones and debris up the sides, mud flaps will help, I did not like the look of them personally, but they offer a lot of protection, and I get rid of my trucks every two years. I run 18" snow tires in the winter on all my trucks except the 2009, that has 20" winter wheels to fit over the Baer Claw brakes
