I just got back from driving the '05 that my uncle sold me, from Florida to Maine. It was a very long trip and I did 1,560 miles over 2 days and surprisingly averaged 18.6 MPG. More than I expected for a 6 liter engine!
Well, here's some pics of it with just 57,000 on it now:

So far, I'm loving it! A very comfortable ride and with the nav system and sunroof, it's got all I could ask for!
It is 2WD, but with the new Goodyear Fortera Triple Treads, it should do fine in the snow.

Yeah, the decals are different, but at least it makes it unique!
As for the 2WD, it's flat here and my 2WD '94 Deville did fine, so I shouldn't have any problems. Is the rear end a posi or open differential? Either way, at least it has traction control.

Thanxs for sharing! Truck looks new. You can look for option code G80 on the RPO list (in the glovebox) to see if you have a positraction rear end.

Umm, 2wd with the 6.0 for 05??
I'm fairly certain 06 was the only year you could get that.

Here's what it has:

I'd rather have the 5.3 though.

Ok, then you have a late 05 Escalade.Right before the 06 build they changed it...pretty rare.

Why would you want the 5.3 over the 6.0?

The 6.0 is leaps and bounds a better engine.

The only reason I could think is he wants better gas mileage... but its not even that much of a difference from the 6.0 .... i think its 1mpg better in both city and hgwy.... id rather take the 6.0 ...... my 6.0 pulls my trailer like its nothing

Yeah, gas mileage is the only reason. But I did look it up and there isn't much difference. It still gets better mileage than my old '76 Fleetwood with the 8.2 liter! :cool2:

Sweet...so it'll be a collector car! :highfive:

How is the 6.0 a better engine than the 5.3?

The 6.0 and 8.1 are GM's HD motors. You get power and MPG with the 6.0.The 6.0 goes in everythin from the full-size trucks to Box trucks.

The 5.3 is weak in comparison to the 6.0.

As far as I am concerned the LQ9 6.0 is THE gas engine to have in anything short of a diesel for perfomance vs. mileage.

Lets see a 5.3 pull my boat and not break a sweat.

I think you need some tow mirrors off a semi truck for that sort of rig:alchi:

It's only a 29'...well 34' with the swimdeck I put on.

I was gunning for a Diesel Excursion BUT the Escalade pulls it just fine and is soooo much nicer to drive around...boat/trailer is in the 10k lbs area.

This was the scary moment....not sure if it would fit the trailer....then I had to tow it home 150miles.By myself.
