Search said you need a tech 2 scanner. Is this a dealer only tool or will indy's also have it ?

We bought an extra key from our dealer when we picked uo our 2005 SRX (est ~$75); it works fine. We also bought an extra key from our local locksmith (est ~$10, no transponder imbedded); it works OK after you first start the car with a dealer key, turn off and restart with the ls key within ~20 sec; otherwise it only opens the doors. Makes a good valet parking key - ensures your car gets parked but not moved until you provide a real key!!
