Never heard of it. I purchased an "extended warranty" for my escalade. Cost me $1100 for a 38.5 month unlimted mileage warranty with ZERO deductible. That cost was the selling dealer cost and the retail on that same policy for an escalade was $2400.
The warranty has about 16 months left.
So far under warranty, I have had the follwoing done:
Front Diff $900
Rear Diff and axel $1600
Transmission $1900
Fuel Pump $600
Powersteering Pump $700
Ball joints $450
Will have front hubs replaced and transfer case doen for certain before warranty is out.
For me personally, that $1100 up front investment was WELL WORTH THE MONEY
My warranty company is called Guardian

I believe in extended warranties! If for nothing more than piece of mind.
I bought mine through the dealer as they included it in the finance package. It was a two year or 25,000 mile warranty for around $1100.00. This is Bumper to Bumper coverage. Some only include major components. My EXT has around 50,000 on it and I mostly drive short distances. Plus in two years I will be looking for a newer EXT.
I have not used the warranty yet, but last oil change, I found out the water pump is leaking. Estimate to repair is around $500. The deductable per visit on the warranty is $200.00. When I take it in I will have them do a detailed inspection, as I am sure they can find other things to replace. It only takes one major issue to completely offset your initial cost for the warranty.
This warranty is directly through GM and I can only go to an authorized dealer. I have had other warranties that would allow me to choose from an approved repair facility. The tricky part is whomever you select, that they are quick to get a check (or CC payment) to the repair shop so your auto can be released.
Most warrantees are also transferable and help in the resale value.
This is a great topic to discuss. Is it usually recommended to purchase the warranty through the dealer? Has anyone tried one of the third party companies warranty options? I'm just worried that it will be a hassle to get repairs out of them. My truck is nearing 70k's though so it's time for me to start considering my options. Any experience/advice is much appreciated. oldword man that's the gig I need! Lol you made out like a bandit.

Sooooooooooooo far soooooooooo good. lol
When I purchased the warranty, it was at the same time I purchased the vehicle, so I negotiated the "cost" of the warranty in the total deal.
There is a GREAT markup on these warranties....like 100% - 200%, so there is room to play ball if purchasing with the truck.
After having the vehicle for a while, then purchasing??? I have no experience with that. The company I have is called Guardian.
I have a ZERO deductible. It includes towing, and AAA type service as well.
For me it has been very worthwhile.....especially with this truck. Everything breaks. lol
Let me know if you need any info on Guardian. Good luck

National Warranty Premium Plus 1-800-547-4710 My dealer says that it is probably the best extended he has seen. 6 year 100K miles. Check it out for yourself give them a call.
Thanks for the tip Decker. I will be looking into both Guardian as well as NWP. I'll see who gives me the better offer.

Some of these warranties MUST be purchased at the time of the vehicle sale. Doesn't hurt to check.
