I finally switched over from dexicool to the good old fashioned green that mixes with all makes and models on my 93 deville 4.9 is the coolant tablets mandatory??

I think they are still recomended for the 4.9, I still use them on mine. The bars leak is the identical product, they make the pellets for g.m.. I've got a qt. sized jar full of them. I looked up engine description for a 96 buick 3.8, it's shows it has a cast iron block and heads, would this mean it doesn't require any supplements.?
