View Full Version : Will This Work??? jpedano 10-23-09, 07:52 AM So I know this is a BS move and all but my warranty has expired and I was wondering...I got a bunch of problems like Engine mount broken,Bottem of seat plastic piece broken,Headlights fogging up sometimes,Service tire monitor, and others.. Now if i got a extended warranty do you think I can claim all this stuff to them and get it all fixed for free?and just say it happened after i got the warranty? .. I figure its gonna cost me over 1500$ to get it all fixed and if i get the warranty for around 1500 i can save my self some money and have a warranty? Will this work? STE_6000 10-23-09, 09:04 AM i'd read the fine print. Force-1 10-23-09, 09:09 AM Most extended warranty companies require that you buy the policy before your factory warranty expires. And those who don't, require the car be thoroughly inspected.... (they know what "time it is" ;) ) snum1fan 10-23-09, 12:50 PM I bought my GMPP Major Guard from my local Cadillac dealer who I did not buy the car from about 6 months and 10,000 miles out of warranty. At first they said they couldn't do it because it was out of warranty and wanted me to get a fidelity warranty (no car inspection) but then after talking to someone else there they put it through and I got my card a few weeks later, and went and had some stuff done.
I think it is just who you talk to.
I would say go to dealerships and ask if they will sell you a GMPP policy. They make money off of it so...... BUT My dealer (where I bought mine) told me last time when I went in there for warranty work, that if the repair came to more than the warranty would cover, the dealership would pay the rest because I bought the policy from them.
I dont know if all dealerships are like this or if they are just talking shizt. z06bigbird 10-23-09, 03:06 PM I bought my GMPP Major Guard from my local Cadillac dealer who I did not buy the car from about 6 months and 10,000 miles out of warranty. You need to take care of that service mgr or service writer. Little things like pizzas for him and service writers goes a long way. Little gifts like that are extremely appreciated. Which reminds me--I need to take a big 5 qt tub of ice cream to my favorite service mgr next week. Seriously. (His staff arranges car washes for me on a regular basis.) nguyendot 10-24-09, 06:43 PM I just had both headlights replaced for fogging up. $995 for each one with the HIDs.... that's well over your $1500 :) KARL DAHLEN 10-24-09, 07:17 PM I just had both headlights replaced for fogging up. $995 for each one with the HIDs.... that's well over your $1500 :)
WHY since your 06 STS should still be under warranty unless your over mileage?? next2pool 10-27-09, 12:28 AM Why would you say that--many 06's went into production in the summer of 05. KARL DAHLEN 10-27-09, 03:33 PM The operative date is not when it went into production but when it went into service. My bad, I suppose there are some that are out of warranty by in-service date. next2pool 10-27-09, 07:31 PM You're right it is the in service date. Mine runs out @ Christmas time. I suspect there may be some as early as August or even July. trackbait 10-27-09, 09:22 PM So I know this is a BS move and all but my warranty has expired and I was wondering...I got a bunch of problems like Engine mount broken,Bottem of seat plastic piece broken,Headlights fogging up sometimes,Service tire monitor, and others.. Let me say first off and foremost. I would strongly suggest you get the moderators to delete your post immediately!
What you are proposing, and in fact what you are suggesting to do is conspiring to commit INSURANCE FRAUD
Do not take this lightly. You can do prison time for that dumb ass move. Even 'discussing or talking about it can be seen as 'conspiricy to commit insurance fraud'.
Frankly I think you are a complete and total IDIOT for such a post.
Fortunately, you have nothing in your public profile that identifies who or where you are. Good thing! unless this is you:

Nobody likes a snitch. nguyendot 10-28-09, 03:26 AM WHY since your 06 STS should still be under warranty unless your over mileage??
Why what? That's what they cost.
Now if you're implying I paid that much, then yes you are wrong. Don't assume.
Warranty covered it, that's just what the parts cost would have been if he was out of warranty.
And - there are many, many 06 cars well over 50k miles. jpedano 10-28-09, 07:05 AM haha its all good thats not me anyways lol ... What a pathetic loser.. in all my time on here I have seen a more idiot then this. Theres ways of saying things by the way .. maybe you should take the pickle out of ur a$$ and not be such a stuck up idiot:pms:. This guy prob worked for a insurance company that went belly up ! lol.. Anyways stupid thanks for posting and we look forward to your further posts!. And by the way good thing for me that canada does not have a 'conspiracy to commit insurance fraud'in the canadian criminal code, haha FAIL again!

So you'd like advice on the best way to defraud the warranty company? staynumz 10-28-09, 04:58 PM Just curious if this is really "fraud"? Unless they ask him specifically if there is anything wrong with the car, is he required to state it up front? What ever happened to the Golden Rule? How would you feel if someone stole the fruits of your work or investment?
Is self respect so devalued? Just curious if this is really "fraud"? Unless they ask him specifically if there is anything wrong with the car, is he required to state it up front?
Of course it would be fraud. No insurance policy has any shortage of fine print protecting the company. They are betting on their actuaries and lawyers. You are betting on your bad luck (i.e. limiting your risk.) nguyendot 10-28-09, 11:32 PM It never ceases to amaze me the stupidity of some of the questions in this thread.
They know it's wrong, and yet they still ask. The OP even stated "i know this is a BS move..."
heh. |
