View Full Version : NAV Firmware - Dealer blowing smoke?

Guys,

I've been trying to get my firmware updated in the Nav. The Caddy dealer says the disk to do it is back ordered. They supposedly ordered it 2 months ago. Is this believable or are they just wanting me to go away?

Anyone on the inside know about this? Thanks.

I would think they are full of it. Go to another dealer.

I may be wrong but I just got my firmware updated. My dealer already had the disc, but they said they just ordered one for an Escallade.

I have saw other members on here post that when they went to theyre dealer and asked about firmware updates they were told they either didnt exist or the dealer knew nothing of them. So I would take whatever they tell you with a grain of salt. They just may not want to deal with it. And you are obviously the first person (at least STS person) to want the upgrade done. If they had done it before they would have the disc already.

And the first disc (each different part number) is free to them. Then if they need another copy of a part number disc they already have ordered then it is $50.

When I went to the dealer for a NAV firmware upgrade they told me that I was going to have to order the disk myself. The parts guys told me that the disk is not for sale to individuals so I just forgot about it. Good luck!

Yea the dealer has to order the disc. If you call the navdisc center they have no idea what a firmware upgrade is. There is a TSB that was posted on here that has a list of problems that the upgrade fixes. If you search on here in the STS forum for "nav firmware" Im sure you'll find it.

I called the 800 number in the owners manual and ordered my updated disk. Yes they are back ordered. It took probably 3 months to get it. I found out you get a one time free update if your the original owner. I was not but told them I was the original owner and they never checked.
I'm still trying to figure the damn thing out. Don't know why they would make it so difficult to use. Good Luck!!

You must have ordered the updated map disc. You cannot order the firmware disc.

Thanks. I actually went in with the printout from this forum about the fixes - went in with a Bluetooth complaint.

I think they are not disputing the fixes at all, they just keep telling me that it's ordered, but not in. They have been great otherwise and the car is still under factory waranty.

Maybe you could call another dealer and see if they have the disc to do it.

Seems like it should be common enough that I would be pretty sure if you called your 5 closest dealers, at least one of them has to have it. Or is there a new update and that is why it is backorderd. I had the most current update put in about a year ago. Any since?

The nav disc center is awful at filling orders.
Sorry. :(
We ordered a replacement disc for a customer and they shipped us the wrong one, called us and told us they did it and then cancelled the order.
??????
It took me a considerable amount of time to get the discs for each one I have had to order.

I'll have to wait until I get the update and post the version. I don't think the dealership knows at this point. I'm going to give them a little longer since I like them and then I will try more dealers. It's a matter of drive time too.

Thanks - these guys are probably having trouble too. You would think disk ordering/distribution would be a fairly straight forward thing, but some places are very disorganized.

RIF people. He's trying to get a firmware update, not an updated NAV disk.

Yes, I have a 2008 NAV disk, which is fine. We have been talking firmware here. I currently have:

Navi: 0f90
Loader: 2a06
DVD: 2.90
Audio: 01.0b

That reminds me, I need to take the NAV disc out of my car before trading it in :)

Finally got the update. Now the versions are this:

Navi: 0FC1
Loader: 2A06
DVD: 2.90
Audio: 01.0C

So nothing newer from what others have posted before.

10.18. Select: F1 Navigation radio. Verify that the software versions are:

- Navigation system software version = 0FC1

- Audio system software version = 010C

That is from the latest disc set.
It sounds like it is updated properly
