ok i have been asking alot of questions lately to get my car perfect. believe me i use the search it just brings up nothing at all what i search for.

anyway its getting cool down south here so i decided to flush the heater core and get some fresh coolant in the cooling system.

anyway, is it normal for the heat to only come out the top and bottom dash vents, none of the vents on the front of the dash

the A/C blows out the front vents fine

Yes, air doesn't start coming out the front until the interior temperature gets close to the temperature set on the climate control.

the 93-96, fleetwoods only blow from top and bottom while on heat
thats why its a popular change to use the control panel from a buick r/m
the buick controller allows you to direct the heat through the vents if you like
also gives more control of the fan speed
up here in the frigid n/east, its common to pull the rug back at the trans hump , and disconnect the plastic vent that sends heat to the back seat area, and even modify the outlet (open it up more by cutting away some of the plastic), allowing more heat to the front floor section,
guess G/M figured us high browed fltwd owners dont want hot air in our faces:cookoo:

A lot of cars are designed that way. The dash vents are for cold air, which is why they have thin plastic vents over them. There is a lot of thin plastic duct work in the dash vent plumbing, which can be melted if exposed to high air temperatures for too long. If you look, the outlet for the floor vent and the grills over the defroster vent are made from a thicker plastic than what covers the dash vents.

With my Impala, I used to turn the heat on max hi, through the AC vents, especially on frigid days that made my face numb. But I noticed that if I left the heat on my face for too long, I started to get tired. The warm air was so relaxing and comfortable that it was distracting. A few other people that I've talked to have said the same thing has happened to them; my one friend actually fell asleep behind the wheel, because of the warm air on his face, and woke up in an ambulance.
