ok i have the 2000 lade. with the bose system. the radio has the cassette, under the temp knobs is the slave cd player, and in the center console is the 6 cd changer. is the cd changer and the slave cd player tapped into eachother then plugged to the back of the radio???? is there any way to tap the original 6 cd changer to a pioneer head unit?

No. Once you replace the factory radio, both the slave CD player and the CD changer become junk.
In my 2000, what I did was remove the CD player and make a custom switch panel to go there, and I took out the CD changer for the extra space in the console.
Your best bet would be to look for something that can be plugged into whatever radio you're getting. (cd player/changer, DVD, etc)

Pioneer have a 6 disc CD/DVD changer, that will plug in to their head units that have "CD Changer" ability via there "IP Bus" connection, that particular player also plays vide DVDs (has a Composite A/V out as well as remote). Its part number is "XDV-P6" its a 1DIN size unit.

However i'm not sure what the "slave CD" is, can you send an image of your console.

You would need to check Pioneer site for a 2DIN radio (such as FH-P800BT or FH-P8000BT), both are Bluetooth units for use with your mobile, they do DVD version as well (AVH-P3100DVD AVH-P4100DVD) make sure they all have "CD Changer" control, this means they will control the 1DIN changer (XDV-P6) from the unit itself.

I notice the new Pioneer Navigation units do NOT have CD changer control....

Many Thanks

SFX, with the 2000, the main unit is a 1.5 din cassette player, and the (slave) CD player is a 1 din unit placed below the HVAC controls - similar to the way the CD changers are positioned on the 02+

Isnt there a pocket below that 1.5DIN size unit making it 2DIN?

The 1DIN changer is fine then, Pioneer also make 1DIN size radios that will driver there CD changer as well.

Many Thanks

No pocket - just the radio, then HVAC controls, then the CD player

thanks on the replies. i know i can find a cd changer that adapts by ip-bus cables. im just tired of spending mucho money. was hoping for just an adapter. my new pioneer radio has a cd player in it anyway, it would have just been cool to be able to re wire the slave cd and the changer for chub change and have a 8 cd combo radio..hahaha. the ip-bus terminal is about to be used to wire up my GEX-P920xm for xm satelite radio, then the ip-bus port thats open on that unit i bought a ip-bus to ipod cable to power my girls old ipod since im getting her a new 1 and confiscating her old 1. ill just put all my cd music on there and have teh satelite radio and the reg radio and the 1 cd player. if i only had something cool to put in place of the old slave cd player under the hvac i would do it. i was thinking an equilizer for my system but my pioneer head unit has more than a sufficient eq built in.

This is what I did. It'll sound crazy, but it turned out kinda awesome.
First, I took out the slave CD player and remove the side mounting brackets. Then I went to Lowe's (or Home depot) and got a 12 X 12 sheet of aluminum. Then I took the face off of the slave CD player (I wasn't planning on using it anymore) and measure the dimensions. Then I cut out the aluminum to the same size.

After that, I got the carrying case for the faceplate of my head unit, and carefully cut out the portion with the logo, to match the size (dimensions) of the faceplate that I took off of the stock slave cd player, then got some two sided tape to attach it to the aluminum. Then I took the mounting brackets from the slave cd player and mounted those on the side so that they'd fit. Then I got a couple electrical switches from Autozone and threw them in. One was for power for my flip down that I later installed, and the other was just there to make it even. (one on each side) I never got around to installing anything that needed that switch.
