Hi,
Does anyone know where (or how) I can get a transponder key for my '99 Catera, without going to the dealer? I lost my duplicate set, and need a backup. I live in Markham Ontario.

Hi Swelken,
Thanks for the reference. They said $125 dollars, which is the lowest quote I've had to date.

Thanks pedrazamarcos,
That's a good price. $20 is good. I've read that if I have the transponder key, and one working key, that's there's a proceedure whereby I can program the new key in my car's ignition.

From what I've learned, it's not possible to program these (Catera) keys in car. Heck, barely any of the locksmiths that we have locally could do it. Finally found one that would do it for $60 & it took them a while.

Well go get a copy of that key made and then hide it under the car so next time you lock or loose your keys at least you will have something to open the doors with.

Yeah, or if you're sick of the key thing, you can buy a transponder bypass from DEI. Hook it up & you'll be able to use a key without the transponder (you will have to leave the original key in the car for it's transponder code though).
