View Full Version : JL Audio Stealthbox 07+ SUV's Kickboxer 10-19-09, 03:46 PM Does anyone know why the JL Audio's stealthbox iis not spec'd or does not fit the escalade when it fits the Yukon's, Tahoe's and Suburban's?
I believe Escalade uses the same Bose sub part# as the Denali's do which the JL is spec'd for.
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_stealthbox_detail.php?fit_id=1561 I e-mailed them when this first came out and then called them, they told me it would not fit, but could not tell me why. I explained to them that I moderate a Caddy Forum and Escalade's owners would go for this, they did not seem to really care Big Windy Ext 10-19-09, 09:28 PM Geez , You would think they could get you a person who gives a crap and give a reason , or work on getting one to fit . Funny you get a person who makes you feel great about ordering floormats , even remember her name , then get a loser who won't even TRY to sell a $500 set of audio equiptment. I was told that the JL enclosure won't work in the Escalade because it has a bose sub built in to the center console already. The JL enclosure needs this space to be installed. If that was true, what about the Yukon Denali? It uses a Bose sub in the front center consol as well. There are Denali owners on the net with it installed so it surely works on the Denali. It may even be the exact same part# for the OEM Bose subwoofer between the Denali and Escalade. evil0ne 10-19-09, 11:21 PM Different consoles for the cupholders, ashtray, etc is my guess. But I had the same question. I want just a tad more bass out of the truck and then I'd be totally happy. We might try the JL13TW5 somewhere because of how small it is. If the Denali and Escalade use the same OEM Bose sub part#'s, it would be a good guess that the stealthbox will likely fit as well. They would be both designed to fit in the same space.
Usually when a manufacturer has not test fit an application they will usually just say it does not fit to cover their asses. That is way easier than having to take back installed parts that didn't end up working for one reason or another. I'm guessing it just hasn't been tested so they exclude it.
A easy way to narrow this down, does anyone have access to GM part# and diagrams? Would you be so kind to check the part#'s of the 07+ Escalade sub and the 07+ Denali Sub and post them here? Found something on the internet that claims it's the depth of the cup holders in the Escalade than makes it not work compared to the GMC, just does not sound right. Kickboxer 10-20-09, 12:41 PM Purchased a Denali sub and it came in this morning. Ordered it so I could do some research without having to take apart my truck without knowing for sure if it worked or not. OEM# for the Bose sub is 15902129 and it is the same fitment between all models according to this site:

They say it's for the Tahoe, Yukon and Escalade.
It measures 19.75" Long, height is all over the place, the front is 6.5" tall, the highest point is 7" tall roughly the middle, the stepped down sections height goes from 5.25, 4.5 to 4". Widest point is 8.25". They appear to me the same part #, 15902129 according to the GM parts info I just received from our shop hballs25 10-20-09, 10:22 PM I put a JL audio ported power wedge (CP108LG-W3V3) 8" sub in my 08 EXT and it fit perfectly underneath the driver side rear seat. For an 8" sub this really does hit. I wanted something that would be easily hidden inside my truck without having to replace the midgate. I do miss my 2 10W6's but this does the job, gives it that extra little bit of bass. I also used a JL500/1 amp and mounted it under the passenger side rear seat. It is a little bit too much power but i had it laying around the house and did not want to buy 250 watt amp. |
