I just became the proud owner of a 2009 DTS Platinum. And, yes, it is a great car. Love the whistles and bells. However, I have a minor problem with the adaptive cruise control. It appears to pulse or fluctuate. When engaged running on level road the car will speed up and slow down ever so slightly. The engine speed varies by 50 to 100 RPM. No other vehicles are around so it is not sensing them.
I can live with it but I find it irritating. All my previous Cads cruise control were steady as rock.
Anyone else have this problem or know of a remedy besides 'Off'?

Rapid Roger had some issues with his Adaptive Cruise.
He learned quite a bit about them doing the time it took to get his fixed.."RIGHT"
He may be the best one to contact about this issue.

My wife's 2008 DTS has adaptive cruise control, and it works just fine. No speed variations when it is set.

Just happened onto this post.Upon delevery, the ACC in my 2008 Performance model did not work properly and GM was no help to the dealer in correcting the problem. The symptoms were that it would just lose sight of the car ahead and not work at all.
I know this is not your problem but here's what I learned about ACC.The unit must be aimed exactly as specified or problems will result.Aiming requires a special target and an aming tool a full tank of gas and 150lbs in the drivers seat.
After the tool was obtained from GM(After I had a new DTS for three weeks)along with the target, my dealer aimed the unit correctly and it has since been trouble free. It's my feeling that the aim in your unit(Mine was way off)is just a tiny bit off and is causing the symptoms you decribe.
Since I've been wrong so many times in my life I may be wrong this time too but thats what I think the problem is.

I might add that problems with the ACC have been covered extensively in other threads. I will also point out that my wife's 2008 DTS required repositioning of the ACC unit below the Vogue all-metal grill she wanted. This, of course, required reaiming of the unit. The dealer did this with no problems. However, because the ACC radar unit is now lower, it gets dirty sooner and causes a warning message about the dirt to appear sooner if the distance for braking is set to the maximum of six car lengths. I reduced the distance to three car lengths, and the dirt problem was eliminated. Otherwise, it works just fine.
