We ran our 2010 CTS-V 6speed at the Texas Mile today. Our goal was to set a new record for a sedan in the standing mile. The previous record was set by a modified AMG CLS63 at the last Texas Mile event at 177 mph. Today we broke that record and set a new one by running 185.2 mph in the mile.

Our car has a tweaked version of our V700 upgrade system. We dyno tested 650 rw hp and 665 rw torque. Many thanks to Jesse Bubb of Wait4me who helped us. Jesse is very skilled at what he does and he is great to work with.

FYI, the last mile event had a bone stock 2009 ZR1 running 184 mph. So having a V beat that speed feels pretty good.

Also, we took our same car to the dragstrip tonight and set a new record there as well. Running on 20 inch drag radials, I was able to run 11.35 @ 128.3 mph in the 1/4 mile. This was with a 1.90 60 ft time. We backed up this run with an 11.37 @ 127.8 mph pass.

All in all, it was a very good day for the V on the race track. The car performed flawlessly and was super easy to drive fast.

Thanks again to Jesse and our team at Hennessey Performance who built this beast. Videos, pictures and time slips to come this week.

Great numbers...was this an automatic or manual 6speed?

"We ran our 2010 CTS-V 6speed..."

I believe that this car is a manual.

It amazes me that there are 18" AND 20" drag radials available, BUT NO 19"

19" Drag Radial Hooser Tires USED P345/30ZR19 in eBay...I think they're too big but maybe a mini tub:hmm:

Did you see my boy Lou in his red Dodge Magnum. 190.20mph! He said he was losing traction at 100mph in 4th gear. That'll shrink yer man marbles.

Shouldn't a car with 650 RWHP have a better 1/4 mile time and speed?

Shouldn't a car with 650 RWHP have a better 1/4 mile time and speed?

Thats my guess. But I can almost be certain there were traction issues still involved.

Yeah, don't know that I'd have the guts to be sliding around in 4th gear doing 100+mph on the way to 190mph.

As for the quarter mile times, better slicks and better 60's and that'll be a 10 sec car.

My quarter mile calculator says that a 4200 lb vehicle at 650 hp could turn 10.849...

But calculators and dyno numbers are just numbers...performance on the track has lots of variables...bite, altitude, heat, humidity, etc. to say nothing of the mechanical variables.

10.8 is really, really quick...but so is 11.35, and I am no fan of Hennessey by any stretch of the imagination.

That - or he couldn't shift the manual tranny fast enough .... :hide::duck:

But congrats for some great tunes and numbers!!

Congrats John on the mile, thats awesome. I too took my car to the track "LSX Shootout" in Memphis, TN. I ran a 10.76 @ 129.75 MPH. in my 2009 CTS-V. Hopefully next year I can try the mile.

I would think so. The 20"s probably hurt a lot. Knock those down to 18s and I bet he shaves quite a bit of time.

But his alternative would be to "safely" stop at a top speed of 175 :stirpot:

Yes Nick and the guys at Fastlane built my car. Its got heads, cam, headers, pulley, innercooler, and stock tranny w/ small converter... yes its automatic. Stock short block, rims, mufflers and stock air filter. I made 3 ten second passes this weekend and the car didn't miss a beat.
