Just had a shop replace my alternator...water cooled :(

I have a 500rms JL system in my car...now my old alt would get up to say 14.4v when driving, maybe a bit higher but now with this alt it sits at 13.7 and never changes when driving and idling, system off. With the system on it stays at 13.7v when at a stop light it will drop to 13.5 occasionally but for the most part it is holding up which is big improvement from the previous alt.

Now, I think I read a diode may be bad because I'm not getting up to 14.4v when driving like I should.

I should mention too that I had to drive about .5-1.0 mile to get to Kragen when the alt went out so it was charging my battery at 16.4v which I know is bad and maybe this is the problem.

14.4 volts indicated charge is exactly correct. The new alternator may be improperly grounded - nuts and bolts are not always the best ground.

Ok, I'll have it checked.

Thursday 4pm I picked it up it was at 13.7 steady

Friday 1230am left work 13.8 steady

Friday 11am left home and it is 13.9 steady

I'll head over there Monday to have the ground checked
