I am getting real close to ordering my 2005 SRX-V6 AWD with Luxury Performance Package - probably tomorrow. I have a question about the Navigation System since I have not seen this working. I test drove the Acura MDX and LOVED the way the navigation system worked so that is what I'm hoping to see with Cadillac. From reading through these threads I'm understanding it is not that similar....sounds like it's hard to see in the sunlight and the colors and fonts make it difficult to see. Also - can't change destination while driving?? Does anyone have this system and love it? Anything I should check out tomorrow when going back to the dealer?

My 2nd choice auto is the Acura MDX similarly loaded.....but think there is only 2 things better about it.....rear seat is a very tiny bit easier to sit in....and it's not powered (who wants to wait for that to slowly go up/down when I can release and let it fall down in a second?) and the 3rd row seat splits in Acura. My kids (big kids) rave about comfort in Cadillac second row seat.

As far as the Rear entertainment...I see advantages to driver with it's position in Cadillac as opposed to roof mount. Are there problems with this? Kids thought it was easy to see there although I can anticipate if I need to make my daughter sit in the 3rd row there will be major conflict because she won't be able to see monitor..... Any insight? Thanks.

I love the DVD Navigation system in the SRX, it is much better than the one that is installed in my '04 Audi A8L. I enjoy the ease of data entry that a touch screen setup (like in the SRX) allows. I just completed one leg of a New Jersey to Florida drive, and the Nav system performed perfectly. There are some newer roads that have been built here in Florida in the past two years. The Nav knew them all. I enjoy the "3-D" mapping that the SRX permits. It gives a view that is similar to flying over the road in an airplane. Add to that the voice commands on the SRX (say "I'm hungry" and the system will light up the nearest restaurants), I can't drive without it.

I've had no problem with screen brightness, even in the brightest of sunlight.

I also enjoy the Rear seat video system, a real life-saver during a long trip with the kids. We used the plug in inputs for the rear seat system and managed to plug in a Nintedo Game Cube with wireless joysticks which kept the kids quiet for most of the trip.

I did modify my rear seat entertainment system using the instructions from this forum. I added two video monitors to the front headrests. I did that myself (not bad for a gynecologist, eh?).

Thanks doc. I test drove the 2005 with the package we want - Luxury Performance - and we loved it! The dealer didn't have the DVD to see the Nav in action - that kind of bothered me - but honestly I don't think it's make or break. Now I can't wait........!
