My 99sts has an intermittent problem, I am looking for some answers to resolve this problem. Here's the senerino, If I use the vent switch to vent the roof then close the roof and try to open it with the auto open switch the roof will not operate. I have to use the vent switch to open it and close it, now when I use the vent switch to close the roof it will not stop at the closed position it will keep going past the closed point and go the vent position, so then I try to close the roof again with the vent switch and it goes past the closed point all the way back to the open position. I know confusing :bonkers: This erratic behavoir is fustratiing because you have to keep playing with the switches to achive a closed position. I have it at the dealer serveal times for this concern and it has not been repaired. I'm thinking that there is a limit switch or some kind of position sensing device that is not doing it job or is out of adjustment. If there are any moon roof experts out there that can steer me in the right direction I would appericate it. :annoyed: :annoyed:

I had the same problem with moonroof switches on my 98 STS last week. Intermittant problem with the 2 switches started about a month ago. Last week "service security system" indicator came on for a few days,then "service charging system" briefly came on, followed by "battery not charging" briefly. I took the car to Cadillac dealer. They said entire problem was coming from a bad generator, including the initial problem with the roof switches. Car is currently being repaired by Caddy. They tell me that changing generator is a major thing in that car. The radiator has to come out to get to the generator.
