| View Full Version : Average Gas Mileage? CeeFive 08-01-04, 09:22 AM I am just curious as to what the average gas mileage is for everyone, especially with the V6 AWD. MortnCyn 08-01-04, 01:03 PM Lots of highway miles of the 6660+ on our V6 AWD SRX today. On recent 2500+ mile trip kept record of fuel and the mileage was 18.8 MPG for the trip. The read out was 22.0 for the trip, which is about a 15% error. The first 2800 miles was 18.6. CeeFive 08-01-04, 04:48 PM Those computers must be set to impress the EPA or something. My Envoy is always reading between 18 and 22 on the computer and the best I can figure by my calculator and the gallons used is 17.8 on a long trip, which for that car is terrible. :disappoin hunterzmom 08-03-04, 06:00 PM I read some of the other responses from another thread but I am not getting anywhere near that. I have a 3 wk old V6 SRX that's getting 14-15 combined highway and neighborhood traffic. I'm praying that it matures into the 17-20 that other owners are reporting. My neighbor has the V8 and I'm getting the same mileage as the "rocket". Samboosa 08-04-04, 04:49 AM I have the v8 awd, 2500mi. And my AVG milage is: 12.2 !!!!!!!!!!!!!! :banghead: But well the good thing is the US gallon of premium unleaded fuel here costs around 1USD. :halo: mack1a 08-04-04, 10:52 AM Has anyone gone to their dealer and expressed concern regarding the childish optimism expressed by the trip computer. My average mileage numbers look like there is a random number generator in there somewhere. JDelorean_srx 08-04-04, 11:58 AM What if the gas pumps aren't actually putting into the tank what they say they are? wait, oh I gotta go, some black helicopters are flying overhead... :hide: rcawood 08-09-04, 01:24 AM 05 V6 AWD here. I just completed 1,000 miles in two days. Very heavy highway and fairly low speeds (mostly 65 to 75). Had less than 200 miles before the trip so was still in break-in period for a good part of the trip where speed is supposed to be kept below 70. I saw 20 to 22 (per the computer) which I consider outstanding for a new engine relative to the EPA rating. I only checked the computer reading one time manually but it was spot on that time. Johnz 08-10-04, 09:10 AM I just got back from about a 1,000 mile trip. The trip computer stated I was getting 18.9 MPG on the entire trip (mostly highway) and when I did the manual math, the computer was right on. The trip computers worked fine also. After taking this trip using the navigation system, I will never buy another car without it. It got me out of traffic jams to and from using the detour feature. The computer lets you know how many more miles and time you will be adding to your trip depending on which detour option you pick. Love it! :bouncy: mack1a 08-10-04, 10:17 AM Makes you wonder if there is a serial number break-in point where the odometer works. Anybody have access to engineering records? vfour 08-12-04, 02:00 PM My SRX was built in October of 2003 and my computer is also spot on. sgilbert 08-12-04, 03:43 PM Just got back from 2500 mile round trip to FL, and averaged on computer AND actual 19.9 mpg. I've got the V8 AWD. Seems pretty good! rcawood 08-12-04, 06:08 PM Just got back from 2500 mile round trip to FL, and averaged on computer AND actual 19.9 mpg. I've got the V8 AWD. Seems pretty good! Wow, I'd call that fantastic on a V8 AWD. GM vehicles have always seemed to do well from a gas mileage standpoint for me and our V6 AWD SRX is also doing pretty good so far. stlgasman 04-21-05, 02:29 PM I am getting about 14.6 in mostly city driving. Has anybody done anything to improve their mileage? conniecadillac 04-21-05, 04:14 PM :lildevil: Wow...I guess I have a REALLY HEAVY FOOT because I get about 9 miles per gallon in town and if I'm really lucky, 13 miles per gallon highway (with cruise control). It really hurts my pocketbook, but it's so righteous to have a V8 again! RTT 04-21-05, 04:14 PM I'm getting arount 14.8 in town, doesn't really seem that bad for a 320hp V8. If you did something to improve your mpg is it really worth it in the grand scheme of things. If you improved your mpg to say 16.8 you would have saved 14 cents. Just something to think about. :lightbulb inline6 04-22-05, 12:06 PM Our 04 V6 AWD is averaging high 16s in town and as high as 22 on the highway near sea level and flat terrain. It now has ~ 7500 miles. stlgasman 04-22-05, 11:56 PM Our 04 V6 AWD is averaging high 16s in town and as high as 22 on the highway near sea level and flat terrain. It now has ~ 7500 miles. What octane gas? What do you consider to be in town? Flaufercaddy 04-23-05, 09:48 AM My 2004 literally sucks gas! I drive it mainly in NYC and get a whopping 8 MPG on my V8. The dealer says its not necessarily how I drive but the route I take every day. I do not drive during rush hour so my trips are 30-40 mph, but there are plenty of those darn traffic lights! My trip does not equate to the EPA test giving the 15 mpg rating. Yeah, right! On pure Highway driving with cruise at 70 I get 18. No wonder GM is going bankrupt! :bighead: LewisR 04-23-05, 05:12 PM My 2004 with ~27K on the clock is finally getting about 22 on the highway, with a weighted (more city than highway, but general driving) average of about 17. Considering the relatively small size of the tank in this thing, it's still lousy from a miles-per-tank perspective, considering that my '95 Eldo with 145K on the Northstar gets about 30 on the highway and about 19 around town, though it requires premium fuel to avoid detonation (ping). I hate my SRX and will not get another one (just thought I'd throw in that disclaimer; note my other posts here for more details). inline6 04-25-05, 02:38 PM What octane gas? What do you consider to be in town? It's running 87. In town, mostly short distance stop and go trips generally less than 10 miles. Sometimes include short bursts on freeway but nothing over a couple of miles. stlgasman 04-25-05, 03:03 PM It's running 87. That sound like my driving but my mileage is worse. MortnCyn 04-26-05, 10:38 AM Posted the following on 8/1/04: Lots of highway miles of the 6660+ on our V6 AWD SRX today. Now at 14,027 miles with 758 gallons of fuel used which is 18.5 MPG. 7,000 plus miles are highway. We do not drive with much traffic congestion locally. Did one trip through KY, WV, and NC and back. 1,483 miles @ 19.77 MPG. Best mileage about 23 (amazing what a 20 to 30 MPH tail wind will do) and worst less than 15. Our DIC has been brain dead a couple of times but the current read out may be close at 17.7 MPG that is at 371 miles since the DIC (radio) was replaced. tiranga008 05-15-05, 02:30 PM did a very scientific :histeric: calculation of avg. mileage.. between fillings.. our 04 V6 AWD is doing about 16.59 mpg.. mainly local and some highway driving. I think I am OK with that. The clock has about 27K... Love the reliability. Jim_V 05-16-05, 10:31 AM I average about 15 in combined driving with 4200 miles V-8 RWD. njsrx 05-28-05, 01:59 AM 2005 SRX AWD V6. Just completed a 800 mile highway trip. Going there, we got 17.9MPG while averaging about 78mph. On the way back we got 19.3MPG while averaging about 72mph. louisn 05-28-05, 08:22 AM AWD Northstar: 75-80 mph on Memphis to Mobile and back; about 1000 miles--averaged 19+--Not too shabby IMHO--Went 55 for a period and instant mileage showed 22+--But that's like sauntering with Secreteriat. Went all out while passing a semi one time -very impressive power; scary almost. Garnsmeyer 05-28-05, 06:23 PM 2004 V8 RWD, low mileage vehicle. Round trip from SW Utah to Denver, 1600 miles, over the Rockies and back, 77-78 MPH except in lower speed zones. Averaged 20.8 MPG. I'm HAPPY; it's a good ride!!! lkamm 06-08-05, 02:26 AM I got 13.8 with 87 Octane and better to 15.8 with 91 Octane lkamm 06-08-05, 02:27 AM I got 13.8 with 87 Octane and better to 15.8 with 91 Octane -- V8 AWD stlgasman 06-09-05, 09:20 PM I wonder is average mph relates to mpg. I just brought my car in for service, V6 AWD, and have been getting about 14.4 with an average mph of 22. The loaner, an 05 AWD V6, was reading 17.3. For fun, I reset the meter and after 75 miles had an average mpg of 14. I didn't drive hard, but he mph was about 22 (on the 17.3 is was 32). I wonder is my lower mpg is reflective of the stop and go driving? | |
