Hi Guys,

I have a 4.6l V8 AWD SRX which started to pop loudly recently when accelerating hard from a stop. I knew it could have been caused by a few things. So I started by changing the fluid and filter. The dealer manual suggested that it might either be the tranny or the transfer case, so I took it to a shop to diagnose. They found that the pan had metal shavings in it, or so they told me, and they wanted 3k to fix it (not including the transfer case). Needless to say I didn't take them up on their offer.

I've rebuilt transmissions before so I decided to get the master rebuild kit from a supply shop and rebuild it myself with the help from my father who's rebuilt many GM transmissions.

Long story short, when he was almost done and we broke one of the cast aluminum rings and I'm not sure where I can find a replacement. I've called around to dealers but the best they can offer is the next assembly up which is around $700 (almost half the price of a new tranny). I have the ATSG manual but it doesn't list the band either. I hoping one of you guys can help me identify the part and maybe even a supplier. My car is still up on jack stands and I'm riding my Gsx-r until we can figure this out. That's why I'm hoping we can figure it out quickly cause it's kinda getting cold up here in NY.

Here are some pictures and the diagram where the ring is located. Like I said, it's the 5l50 awd transmission.

Have you tried a junk yard? Even ones online may ship you what you need.
