Hello to all - first post here. I'm not the lucky one to be driving a DTS, but my mom just got one. Bought a 2006 with 50,000 miles just off of a lease. Black on black, Lux II, Sun and Sound package - seems pretty standard options for a Lux II. It is one nice car in the pictures I've seen. Been reading here for a week or so and have learned a wealth of things to point out for her from all of you. Thanks for all of the information you all write about. She loves the car - heated steering wheel, heated/cooled seats, heated rear seats - unbelievable the little options - and she doesn't even have them all - she traded up from a '98 Town Car with 144K on it - so it's quite an improvement.

To say the least I'm in TX and she and the car are in OK - so I've just got pictures to go on - but there is something on the grille (halfway between the Caddy emblem and the drivers headlight) and she doesn't know what it is, a nephew that looked at it said it was nothing functional, but I don't what it is or why it might have been put there. Anyone recognize it or is it something functional? From what she told me she does not have adaptive cruise control which is the only thing I can think of it might have been a part of.

Thanks for any feedback. Picture attached.

Cadillac Heritage/Loyalty badge or something to that affect. Buy a lot of new Cadillacs you get a badge put on the car. At least thats what my Cadillac Tech friend told me. Something akin to the Mercedes Badge you get if you put a lot miles on the car.

Its a cadillac loyalty badge. If U look at it closer, you'll see a # on it. That number denotes how many new cadillacs the owner has purchased.Matter of fact, I'm due for 1 of those.

Thanks for the replies - tons of great knowledge here. Since it is her first Cadillac and it was used - I may see about taking it off, not to offend anyone, but from the pictures I don't like it there, but will get her opinion since it is her car.

I thought the number on it was for the number of times car was back in the shop for various problems. lol

... but I think it only has room for 2 digits.

Designers came up with large grill; they ain't as dumb as they look.

lol

Frankly, I have purchased about 50 personal cars in my life, and I have never had a lemon. Repairs: window regulator on a Buick, nothing on a CTS, alternator occasionally--but that was GMs bread and butter. Normal maint items, of course.

Similar history with Ford--very few trips to garage/dealership.

I had more repairs than expected on my 04 CTS and way more than expected on my 06 SRX. I'm kind of soured to that platform for my next vehicle. The most serious problem on my 07 Lincoln MKZ has been a broken gas cap tether.

Yes, as the others have said, it's an owners/heritage badge. When I bought my STS new, I got one (actually I had to fill out a little index card from Caddy that I got in the mail asking me if I wanted one). About 4 weeks later I got my "badge"/grille emblem/paper weight/etc. in the mail. I actually have it on my grille as well. Mine has the number "1" on it, since it's my first Caddy I've bough new.
