Just wanted to say hello to you all. I am new on the forum but not new at all to the Cadillac community. My dad is a retired GM guy and has been buying Cadillacs for quite some time. Currently he has a 08 Escalade with 22s, custom grille, tails, exhaust, etc. My step mom drives the 07 XLR-V around town if not in the Escalade. My step mom used to have an SRX before they moved.

Now my wife is pregnant with our first child and we needed something besides my twin turbo sc300 or my 93 sentra beater. So we chose a 05 SRX with about 55k on it. It is Pearl White with Tan/Black interior. v6 AWD. I really like these cars and just wanted to start doing stuff since owning it since Friday :-)

The first thing though is that on the passenger door panel on the top it appears to have some blackish lines and such and I was wondering if this is wear or dirt. I thought I would ask here before scrubbing the heck out of it and making it worse if it is wear.

There are some little issues with it like clicking when closing the sunroof and the ashtray not swinging open but since we bought at Carmax I am going to simply take to them for their 30 day guarantee.

Thanks for the help in advance and look forward to being part of the community.

Welcome to the form. It's helped me out already when I purchased my previously enjoyed SRX, but on one occasion I did not read / search here on the removal of the ashtray. I removed it and away went the spring:mad: So I searched on how to re-install and I found postings that covered how much a pain is to put it back so don't take it out. :tisk: Took me almost 2 hrs to put it back. trial and error. Good idea to let the dealer do it! So I suspect the spring is not in place correctly or is missing!

As for those lines that may be dirt I haven't had that issue!

once again... welcome and search is your best friend!

Thanks Jake...yeah I did a search and read a bunch and didn't see anything. Glad to hear that it is probably just some dirt and not wear. I was hoping it wasn't wear and under the tan was some greyish black colour.

As for the ashtray...I read the stickied post on it and was thinking as mechanically inclined as I am I would rather let someone else do it if I don't have to pay for it :) Maybe I will print it out and if they have problem show to them...

As for the ashtray not opening . You did push in on it first ? :suspect:

I can't wait to see an answer on the marks. I have an '08 with similar problems. I have tried to lightly rub, but have not had success. On the ashtray I have had problems opening and closing if the flap that goes over the power plug is not secured. Hope that helps.

For the sunroof clicking, you might check the 4 torx-head bolts that attach the roof to the support arms. Just raise it and run it back about 6 inches, and look at the top of each support for the bolt. I had one nearly fall out on my '08. Do a search here; we posted the torx socket size and tightening torque awhile back.
