I just picked up a 2005 SRX with 61k and I was told it is AWD. How can I tell for a fact it is. I saw CV joints in the front so I am guessing it is but I want to be sure. There is no badging saying that it is and I don't want to simply take the salesman's word for it. It was news to me after I bought it, I thought it was just rear wheel drive.

Hopefully I will be here for good times and not whinning. Keep in mind I am very mechnically inclined but this type of vehicle is all new to me.

Transfer case under car and an extra hump in the passenger footwell. Oh and I think there is an M in the VIN. You can buy the "4" aftermarket and add it next to the SRX like I did... I think the 2007 and after have the "4".

Vin will not tell you anything about awd. Turn front wheels all the way left or right and look for half shafts running into front wheel.
