Hello, i am new to the SUV world and have primarily stuck to sports cars. My wife has been bugging me for years for her dream vehicle which is a escalade ext. I figure maybe now is the time since i have also been wanting a truck so maybe i can get 2 birds with 1 stone on this deal.

My question is how much is fair to ask off of one of these 2009 ext's that are still on the lots? My gut says that 10k is not unreasonable since in reality the vehicle is already a year old and even if it was new it takes a serious nose dive in depreciation after driving off the lot. I understand that this is just the nature of the beast with these SUV's and its something I have to deal with. I guess all they can say is no but i'd like to have a good idea of what kind of deals are out there. Any info on your experiences and deals would be greatly appreciated. Also, recommendations on great dealerships are welcome also as i have no problem traveling for the right deal. I am in the middle of the country (Kansas City).

i picked up my 09 ext two months ago, I got the cash for klunkers on it with a 4500 rebate plus another 6k off the sticker. total of 10.5k of the whole deal, so yes, 10k off the stickers at this point, still leaves a massive dealer hold back check they would be receiving this early in the 4th qtr.

that being said, your only problem is this... finding your ideal color/int. combo and equipment combo this late in the year is going to be hard, you will most likely have to settle give a little in the area, since they were pretty scarce when I bought because of the 2010 changes coming out.

I picked up a new '08 EXT (Pearl white with Ultra Luxury Package) this past June for $44k. That was invoice plus all but $300 holdback which they kept, $8500 cash allowance, GM card earnings, and Owner Loyalty. That being for a brand new vehicle they needed to move... and coming off 20k I was very pleased with my purchase needless to say. It does take some searching but with patience there are deals to be had out there.
