Some of you may recall my rant about the material that the cadi grilles are made of. Well on one of my trips to the dealer I showed the service manager a spot on the grille that was peeling away. He looks and says, "we'll replace that". I'm thinking way cool. I said, warranty? New grille is installed under warranty. Now here is what I noticed. The new grille is all chrome. The original one only the front is chrome. I also noticed three small slots on the outside of the grille. Adoptive cruse? I'm going back to the dealer today and I will ask the service manager. Is is my third warranty issue. All good.

What year and model is your DTS?
The standard grille is nickel plated. If I remember correctly there is or was a chrome grille available for the Platinum model. There are also the body colour painted grilles.

Hi Tomko, it is a 08 performance.

This is what I was told by the service manager. The replacement grille was ordered using the VIN number of my car. So we both looked at the old grille and the new. We agreed that they were different. Did I have a problem with the replacement. Not only no but hell no. So there you go. Why the VIN number produced a different grille, I still dont know. Tomko mentioned that that type of grille, all chrome, was available on some models. Bob

Congratulations on getting the chrome grill. :cool2:
I would love to have the ALL CHROME grill for my car.
I think it looks really nice...
I just don't want to spend the money to get it and change mine out...but I am considering it. :cool2:
Mine is the standard, crappy one that is gray plastic with chrome looking stuff on the leading edge of the bars.
It is not a nice grill for a top of the line Cadillac.

Hi Jim, the grille you described is the one that I had. The chrome grille is quite the improvement. I am very pleased with it. I'm still a bit confused on how the VIN number showed the chrome grille. O well, dont look a gift horse in the mouth. :yup: Bob

Southern,
Grille 25857953....268.55
Emblem 25759437.....38.03
Emblem 25759438.....58.34
Insert 25767768....102.01
I'm assuming the numbers are GM. Keep in mind it is still a plastic grille.

Southern--check with Luke at Lindsay. He can usually get a better price on stuff; I got a sport grill for my CTS and saved over $100 by ordering from Lindsay. (And if you're good with dental floss, you can probably reuse the existing emblem.)
