:) Yep, first road trip since I purchased the car back in April. Drove about 1k miles. The car's performance was flawless. The comfort was outstanding. My previous rides have been Buicks for the the past fifteen years. But they are a distant second in comfort and do not compare in performance. The last performance cars were GTO's and RT Dodge Chargers in the 60's and early 70's. The goat and RT's were 14.50 and 14.70 cars I dont know what the Caddi will do in a quarter. Other than a heavy raid in St. Louis the ride was very enjoyable. Was a little disapointed in the miles per gallon. The best I did was 22mpg. But no oil comsumption. I held the mph at eighty a bit faster when cinditions permitted. All things considered, A+. Bob

Well, maybe I should mention mine. Last week, Roundtrip to Santa Fe, NM. (Nice place to visit, but only if your first and only love is turquoise jewelry.....). 1656 miles total, 1300 miles highway, the rest over and around the local mountains visiting the sights. Averaged 23.8 mpg. Made the 640 mile return in 10 hours, just stopping for gas. No back or bottom discomfort. Could have done another 10 hours. Total pleasure to drive. And the available reserve power at 70mph surprised me (and those I passed).... GREAT road car.

Sounds good. I think the car is rated at 23 MPG on the highway and I regularly get about 23.3 to 23.5 t 70........so your 22 at 80+ sounds right.
The caddy is decent for 1/4 mile, but don't go picking on Bimmers or even Hyundais. (Even the 6 cyl Hyundai Genesis will take you easily and the V8 will literally runaway from you).
I love my Lux III and it is the high speed cruising that is best.....but cruising through the Beach on a warm summer evening with about 6 coats of wax and MY music on the iPod ain't bad either!

I love my DTS when on a trip.
It is a great long distance highway car.
My mileage varies from around 22 to 25 on the highway...depending on how fast I am running.
I will be going to the 1/4 mile track in a couple of weeks.
Will let you know how it does.
It has done a 9.95 in the 1/8 mile.
The front wheel drive sucks for hard take offs.
WAY TOO MUCH wheelhop on hard launch.

I'm going to take a wild guess here on the ET of 17./17.5. I may be way off. I do know that if I manually shift before the red line the car seems more responsive. As small as the engine is the performance is really good. Bob

I sure hope it isn't "THAT" slow. :stirpot:
I am thinking it will do a little better than that...at least I hope so.
It "FEELS" faster than that, just driving on the street, but I know that "FEEL" can be very misleading.
It has acquitted itself very well in a few contests.

Jim, I dont nave the nads to take a two and a half ton lead sled to the track. It might be interesting. Keep us informed with tour results. Didnt you have your ride tuned. Bob
Jim, the trunk should be big enough to hold a couple of slicks...

I have actually thought about that... :stirpot:
but the cost of 2 extra wheels and the slicks far outweigh the benefit I would get from them.
I would only need them for the one day I am at the track. :) :) :)
I doubt I would be taking it back again.
I just want to know what it is capable of, compared against other cars.

I took it to the 1/8 mile track, a couple of times, back in the spring.
Yes I did have it tuned.
I really like the driving response it has since the tune.
It is more fun to drive now.
The tune seemed to make it more "EAGER" and "READY TO GO." :) :) :)
It also helped the fuel mileage a little bit...as long as you keep your foot out of it.
