I have a 1993 STS with the Bose system, it has the double din
and 6x9 in the rear with wat looks like an Amp on the backof the
magnet????

What I would like to know is if I have to run new wiring
to the back as I run aftermarket speakers at the back ?
and in the doors?
And since its got an Amp from factorie if I remove it
will it affect other things like the door chim?
and will it still have the same deley like Bose
when you turn off the car will it still play till you
open the door and or after a given time it will turn its self off?
you help will be gratefull

You might be able to get a harness that will relocate your OEM deck to the trunk so u can still use it for all they fancy noises and such. I have heard of people taping into that amp with some aftermarked equimpent (pricy/difficult) and I believe each one of those speakers has its own amp.

If your still wondering about how to install an aftermarket stereo, the best way is to bypass the whole stock system. So, don't even worry about each invidual amp that's on the speakers, just run new wire to each and down the side panels on the inside. I don't recommend keeping the power delay as a feature for this type of project. The gauge of wire is too thin so the amount of power that an aftermarket unit needs does not meet it's expectations. There is plenty of further options to consider.

That power feature is called "RAP" for .. Retain Accessory Power.
You're right about each speaker having its own amplifier. I'll post back a little later. Just wanted to say, there are a few people on this forum looking for a 1993 OEM Cd-Player. That would help offset the cost if you pick something in the aftermarket. Catch ya later.

the answer is:
you need to runs new wires to the speakers and it wouldent hurt to get new speakers too. the ones in there now are pretty old (11 years to be exact) and im sure they've been through alot. also the power issue with the opening of the door or turning it self off after 10 minutes will not be affected. look for a pioneer head unit. they are usually the best ones.
im about to take out my stock 1993 el-dog bose gold cd player if anybody wants it

Pioneer has some good equip. BUT, if you want the best go ALPINE, or ECLIPSE, beter signal to noise ratio, and better line voltage.
