| View Full Version : "Load" button for radio rtd8 10-04-09, 09:08 PM Does anyone know where I can find the button on the left side of the radio that lets you load CD's?Mine has disappeared. Thanks Superjim 10-04-09, 10:54 PM I assume from your post that you have the 6 cd changer and "DO NOT" have the nav system. If that Is correct.. you might try taking both battery cables off and then toughing them together to drain the capacitors in the system. This will cause the radio to "REBOOT" when you turn the ignition key back on. If that don't help...it may mean a trip to the dealer. The battery is under the rear seat. Texas Jim rtd8 10-05-09, 08:01 AM Yes.I have the 6 disc changer and no Nav.Maybe I wasn't clear. The actual button on the left of the radio that you press to load the cd's is missing. It looks like it would be like the eject button with a different icon on it. Thanks Superjim 10-05-09, 08:55 AM Sorry about that... :D You meant an actual "HARD" button as opposed to a "SOFT" button on the on the radio screen/face. My mistake. I am not sure where you would find one of those. Maybe check around with some local radio repair places ?? Texas Jim TulsaVic 10-05-09, 02:38 PM I'm scratching my head on this one. You mean where the button use to be there is a hole? Or you just don't know where it is (or the markings have disappeared)? Mine is on the left side of the radio "screen" in the same relative location as the eject button that's to the right of the screen.... The icon is an inverted "eject" icon. Southern 10-05-09, 06:09 PM As Vic says......almost looks like it is part of the trim.......... I think if it is missing, you have two choices.....junkyard or dealer........... Southern 10-05-09, 11:18 PM Here is a pix. The load button is on the left of the CD slot and the eject is onthe right. Assuming that you can't find it in the car......(I would vacuum the car and then look through the vacuum bag) there is no doubt that there will be no other answer than OEM. Junkyard or Dealer. ltdltc 10-06-09, 06:38 AM That sucks cause I bet that button is only sold with a radio attached to it even though you only need the button. Do a search through some online auto recyclers. Theres some 2006+ DTS that are listed being parted out and I'm sure that you could get a radio for much less then any OEM outlet or Stealership. ewill3rd 10-06-09, 09:28 AM I am still confused, how is the button "missing" or is it just worn off? We can usually get buttons but I am not sure we have tried to order any for that radio. If you so desire you can PM our parts rep on here "Lindsay Cadillac Parts" and give him the part number of the radio and he can call to check. rtd8 10-06-09, 04:24 PM I have just bought the car and the button was missing.I can take a toothpick and make the cd's load and they play just fine. The button missing just really aggravates me.Thanks,Rick TSS 10-06-09, 05:31 PM Try replacementradios.com. They have some pretty obscure knobs and buttons that they will sell piece by piece. There is an 800 number on their site. I would start by calling over there. Please note, I have no connection with them and have never used them. I have just seen others find what they need there. tedcmiller 10-07-09, 01:12 PM All the CD/DVD players on Cadillacs that I am familiar with (2004 and 2008 DTSs and 2004, 2005, and 2009 CTS-Vs) load discs automatically when the disc is inserted into the CD/DVD slot. No "load" button is required. The only hard button associated with this function, that I am familiar with, is the eject button that is located just to the left of the slot. rtd8 10-07-09, 01:47 PM On this 6 cd changer you have to press the load button before you load each cd. TSS 10-07-09, 03:26 PM On this 6 cd changer you have to press the load button before you load each cd. Ditto on the 6 disc changer in my 07 Non-Nav Lade. tedcmiller 10-07-09, 04:19 PM OK, I probably was somewhat wrong. My wife's 2004 DTS did have a separate 6-CD changer, so it probably had a load button. Her current 2008 DTS only does one CD at a time and has no load button (although it is on the right instead of the left of the slot). Thinking back, my 2004 and 2005 CTS-Vs also had 6-CD built-in changers so they probably had a load button too. All those cars are gone and I probably remember things incorrectly. rtd8 10-07-09, 09:20 PM Problem solved. Thanks for everyone's help.I got a single cd radio in the junk yard real cheap and put the "clock" button in the slot.Works perfect. Thanks again,Rick rtd8 10-08-09, 11:31 AM This is a great resource! Rick TSS 10-08-09, 02:11 PM There are a lot of good folks on here who want to help. Glad to have you on the Forum. I don't have a DTS, but monitor this section because several of my business partners and friends have them and I am usually their car "go to" guy with questions. Then, I "go to" the forum! A DTS may also be in our future when it is time to replace the SLS. | |
