Hi All.. Glad to have found this site.. I need HELP..
I got a great 85 Fleetwood Brougham D-Elegance...Pulled the 4100 ( luckily car has dual bolt pattter 200-4r and have a small block chevy to drop in).. no biggie (I know its the same setup as a Caprice or 90-92 Brougham) Anyways.. I pulled the 4100 rubber mounts - I bought new motor mounts (rubber frame pads) for a 92 Brougham 5.7 350 and have the motor mount brackets (steel) from an 90 caprice with an sbc. I test fitted them together before mounting or dropping motor - They are the correct ones.

Questions are: Who here has done this swap? Who has done it to an 85? Did you have to drill holes in the frame cradle to get the chevy mounts to work?

I have the engine pined to the trans and the mounts look like the are 3/4" to 1" too far back (torward firewall).

Please help asap as this is my daily driver! I know I'm new here.. But I will pay it back in spades.

I don't have an answer but maybe some help for you. Look above for the Blue-color Search link. Click and in the box type: 350 swap
That will bring up old threads about swapping Cadillac engines to other GM units. Hopefully those threads will answer your query. Good luck with your project.

Thanks for trying to help Dave. I looked though a BUNCH of posts with the search and nobody details the motor mount issues?
My fix:
I pulled the motor mounts back off the frame and mounted them to the motor, stabbed the motor to the trans and dropped the motor level back into the cradle. Tack welded the mounts. Pulled motor back out and drilled the new holes the smallblock chevy required (3).

Another bit of info on this swap.. I have a dual bolt pattern 200-4R but have been told by a lot of folks that the transmissions behind the 4.1 aka ht 4100 were usually never dual bolt parttern and that I got lucky ? So keep an eye.
