While doing a search on the VCC problem I am having (code p39, viscous etc) one of the posts suggested that they had tried some sort of test that you recommended to see if the VCC was actually working. Can you point me in the right direction?

I think the test you are talking about is to hold a steady speed with your right foot and very lightly touch the brake with your left foot (just enough to trip the brake switch but not apply any braking). You should feel a very slight bump as the vcc disengages and see the RPM jump about 200 RPM.

There also is a PCM parameter you can view (Torque Conv. Slip speed??) which can tell you if the TCC is working.
If the TC is locked up, that speed shoud be close to zero. If it is not engaged (unlocked), the value can go into hundreds.
You can have that parameter displayed while you are driving.
I don't have the manuals handy - maybe someone can look it up.
