I am trying to see if anyone has been successful removing oil from their V6 srx through the dipstick tube. I wanted to send my oil for testing (the oil still has about 1/2 of its life) but wanted to avoid trying to get a sample by having to crack the oil pan open.

I tried with my changer that has a 1/4 inch tube but I can't push it all the way down. It makes it down about 3/4 of the way and then gets stuck. Has anyone had any luck or tried this.

i was hoping for the less messy route by doing this through the dipstick.

You may have better luck removing the lid on the oil filter to get a sample.

That's a good point. You might be able to get the 1/4" changer tube down for an oil sample when you remove the oil filter. When I take the top off to change the filter all of the oil drains into the pan. My $0.02!

If you're doing your own oil changes, it might be cheaper to just change early and omit the oil analysis.

No. Doesn't work. Can't get it all out via the dipstick tube with topsider.

Idiotic, I know, having a top mount canister oil filter but no ability to do a complete oil drain from top.
